I got to thinking ... some of the being low in the stern may be from trimming the engine up while underway to prevent the bow from diving... it might just level out at rest

Take a better look at the photos, they weren't underway. They were virtually stationary in the water the entire time I was snapping photos of them.

Boy, you feel good about the company after that letter from them.

No kidding, makes me want to take one of their boat tours!

hmm so they are...... motor trimmed all the way down too... oh well... I looked yesterday and replied today... ol memory isn't what it used to be... I coulda SWORN I saw a wake but NOPE

The lake I grew up on has another lake connected to it via a small channel that's got a dam. To go into the other lake (no houses, docks or ramps) you took your boat to the dam and rolled it over a teeter type roller-way.

One day on that other lake along comes an ole' Crest Pontoon with the entire clan on board. No kiddin' she had less of her toon's stickin' up outta' the water than the one in the pictures. That bunch had lumbered that barge to the dam, all of 'em got out, picked that boat up and forded the area on land, got back in and kept on going. I'm not condoning it ... but it was certainly industrious of 'em.

Dangerous but industrious for sure.

Pic below is our Party Cruiser the first day we splashed it, note the port log is almost totally submerged in the back...

Turned out there was around 90 gallons of water in rear section (of 3 sections), close to 600#... Now, this boat has a cap of 15 people, but if you park 4 of 'em in one spot, that's the result!

Is that boat overloaded? Maybe, but it doesn't seem any worse off than our PC in the above pic, and I was hardly worried about it rolling over or sinking.

Here's what it looks like with empty logs. Still sits low in the water, it's one heavy boat. It really could use a center log...

Speaking of low in the back, this pic was taken Memorial weekend of 2005. I posted up this pic back then and asked "is this boat too low in the back?"

---some said yes, but most thought it was "normal" for a go-fast-be-loud...

--2 years later, same boat on it's maiden voyage after just installing 2 brand new supercharged 502's...

----- those engines had less than 20 minutes on them. According to one of the passengers, they stopped, and their wake swamped 'em. Sad.

Overloaded? Not with people! That boat was never rated for twins, according to the owner...

Wow, that red go fast is just sad to see in that state, I guess it pays to check on the hull rating and what the boat can actually handle. Most do ride low in back, and I would have guessed it was just fine, until I scrolled down. Bet insurance wont cover those two boat anchors in back now. Very expensive mistake for sure.

Hrmmm...I don't think so. Never heard of someone stuffing twins into a hull rated for one engine. So I looked up the boat. Here's a pic from the first online ad I came across:

900 hp in a 28' hull is a thrill ride only. Running 70+ mph and stopping one can EXPECT the wake to overtake the low stern. All you need is money to buy one of those, brains are not required.

One more pic-- and my "not rated" statement was based on what the owners friend told me. Don't remember the exact wording but it was something like "this boat wasn't supposed to have twins". Maybe it was just his opinion after the fact?

Wasn't there a tour boat that flipped a few years ago, up state NY. Seem to recall Lake George fall color tour.

Notice how the striping down the hull goes around the corner to the transom. Putting twins in a boat that originally had one engine would require a new transom. Either they did one heck of a professional installation, which I doubt, or that's the way it came from the factory.

I would look good in that boat, reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllll good!

The guy in the Checkmate would have never swamped his boat if he paid attention to the backwash, a little bump of the throttle and you're good.
