Re: pic of work so far

Hey, like john said, i stopped by today and we had some really good discussions about our projects. Guys, John has done a REALLY nice job on that boat. It's going to look awesome with the new paint job and it is solid as a rock. I'm inspired to get going on mine for sure. Thanks for all the great tips, John. Looking forward to helping each other out and putting some fish on the decks this summer!

By the way, fellow I-Boaters, John's lovely daughter is raising money for the school band and has lots of high quality chocolates for sale if you are looking for a nice gift to smooth over anything with the misses (read washing grinding clothes in family washing machine oops) be sure and drop him a pm! haha, cheap plug for you, john!

And my little brat will love yea for that one !! hope that dont get this thread locked !!! hahahaha

Thanks again Steve !!Its allways good to hear it from someone else !!!!!

Re: pic of work so far

Did you see the replacement heads that you can get ? Then you can make that a 7 inch !!

Ohh i was running that little cut off for a bite, and it did run that tank out , I forgot , its been so long since i used it !!

I got the heat going out there and was just checking the Tex, and it all seams hard !! so I am thinking If i can get the top done today then next week I should be able to finish the bottom in one day easy !!! then start to get the garage cleaned out , [ dust ] and start taping her up !!!!!

I am still kind of nervous on using the marine top side !!!! I hope it really does hold up as well as TD's has !!! John

Re: pic of work so far

so john when are you comin to help me?

HAHAHA You think I'm kidding , I will gladly come do your transom and your stringers ,If you come finish this ?????

Man I really hate this part !!!!!!!! LoL

Well Like I said in my last post , I got part of it ground, again where i put the Tex on petty thick , that was hard as a rock ,and them spot weren't that many,a lot of it I had to put on really thin and them were still wet.Man hate it when you hat that it gumms up the paper really quick and if its really wet ,you spread it around if your hitting it hard !!

So after I hit two of them spots I hung the grinding up !!When I was grinding on the transom , there were a few more spots that I had to Tex again !! So did that and really started looking close and there were a bunch of spots that I put a little more Tex on ,{ Did I really say I hate this PART ] lol

When any uses Tex You got to give it more time to cure , I know I am going to, at least a couple days !!! And I had Such High Hopes Today !!!!! I was really hoping I could get the top done today at least ... Ohh Well there always next week !!!!

Hay Ondarvr Didnt you say this was easier then re-gelcoating her again ?????????? I dont know, this has been a pain !!!!!!

Ok It was still a good day out there on her , she is one day closier to looking really hot !!!!!! John

we deal mostly in tube, pipe and fittings, not sheet stock. How are you planning on attaching that? You may be better off taking two strips, shaping the outside edges with your grinder (a cool wave pattern or something) and welding the seam. I have a scrap sheet you could do that with, i think. I can get it welded up for you easily.

Re: pic of work so far

hey john, where do you buy your marine tex? I'm going to ohio tomorrow which means driving dangerously close to the big 3 (cabelas, bass pro, west marine) and thought i may pick some up. I could grab some for you if you don't want to wait for shipping.
