I'm so far away from retirement I shouldn't even be allowed to spell the word in public

I think I'm finding a little more motivation since we got that nice 44 degree day....I might have just cracked the "3's" I'm looking at putting a vinyl floor down in the basement by the end of next month and getting my craft room finished so I can start using it.

Gotta get them taxes done though!

OHH YEA I hear yea mike on the taxs!!! and i keep hopeing every week that I buy my retirement , I spend 10 bucks on lottery tickets !! lol

Well, it looks like I'll busier than a one legged man in an arse kicking contest this week, which is good.

The bad is that direct deposit has been taken away ( assuming my shop is no longer going to farm out payroll to ADP ), and the knowledge that a local supplier won't sell to us until we pay our $2300 polyurethane bill has me nervous about my jobs viability.

The worst part is, that vinyl floor I wanted to do is 50 cents a sq.ft. cheaper for the next two weeks and would save me at least 100 bucks! I might still do it because it's an investment into the house...even if the house is worth less than I paid for it currently, I might as well make it worth every cent that I can. That Playstation 3 or LCD television purchase just got put on hold instead.

Man do I love uncertainty!

OOOHH MAN MIKE that really stinks !!! my job is petty safe and so is the wife, even thoe we both hate them , I want to open my own shop , and the wife want to do the cakes !! lol now she works at the hospital , In the I T dept, and she makes good money not what she should with her master dregee , but were ok bills are all paid !!
But man that really stinks on your shop !!!!

I allways look at it the same way as you are it a good investment in the house , even thoe its not worth as much as it was!! John

PS we also put the tv on hold !! we were looking at a 50 inch but with the way things are going we thought better wait for now !!

HI all . well the best laid plans of mice and men often go kaput !!!! lol got a phone call last night from Jeff [the guy in my pics] he needed some help so i didnt get back here till 4.

Before i headed over there had to run and get some more sanding disks , and some more kerosene. also ordered 100 disks off of ebay 50, 220 grit and 50, 800 grit , 31 bucks

So went to home cheapo when i got back and got 6 more cinder blocks !! going to lift the hole boat the height of the blocks and the jack stands !! two blocks side by side with the jack stands on top !! that is going to be more then high enough !!! pick up a suit for when i start painting !! some mineral spirits for the paint.

OOOOHHH man forgot the paint pans !! and also got 7 putty knifes for the marine tex , thought i would try a couple different ones , one is a 12 inch, blade down to a 1 inch blade !!! love birthday presents [ home depot cards !! still got two more I have to use , thats good need some more ply wood to remake the seats !!

Also think I got a center window for her !! just have to pay for the shipping !! should find out for sure this weekend !!

Ok got all my running i have to do so tomorrow i am going to hit it hard !!John

Hay all ,

Well got about 7 hours on her today !! and didn't get no where near enough done on her, started on the Bow and started on the underneath, figured I would get started on the bottom , knowing that my arms aren't going to be able to handle doing the whole thing in one shot , the nematic sander isn't all that heavy but it still weighs 3 lbs or so !! so i got under the bow on the starboard side . when I was done with that , was hitting the bow , and keep going back over the starboad side , keep finding spot i didnt like , there was little waves , could them when i would run my hand on the side and top !! Is IT EVER GOING TO END ????? lol

Man i dint really think glasstron detailed the hull before they waxed her, The best way i can put it was that on the edges, where the side meets the bottom, that corner was lumpie , It wasn't smooth at all, there was 3 to 4 angles where the edge meets , Does that make sense ?? they are just little flats , like they didn't round over the edges !! Well it is now !!!!

While i was doing this and thinking how she ran last summer , I was thinking i am going to get a couple more Knots out of her , he is going to cut threw the water when I am done !!there is just no way that them flat were from wear and tear on the gel coat !!

All the little nicks and gouges I am grinding right out man you can really tell where i left off, [ I will get some pics up tomorrow or sat]

So I still got 3/4 of the bottom to do and most of the port side still to do !!! My arms are going to feel it tomorrow !! John

Sounds like you got a good plan for the boat John. I'm really not too worried about having a job, but I do worry about the company as a whole. If the work isn't there, it's hard to keep a company that pulled in a couple of Million a year in profits running when that money isn't coming it to pay the bills. It wouldn't be a problem if the Original owner still ran the place since he had long paid for the building and had a fat account sitting to pay the bills...we never had issues getting supplies. The new owner just bought when the business went south and has all the overhead to go with it. Fortunately he bought it on a Contract for Deed with the original owner, so some leeway will be lent if it gets hard enough. Better to give him a break than see the business go under and get nothing, or have to take it back over and run it...which I don't think he has any intention of doing.

My job is secure though. We just dropped down to 4 recoaters, which is exactly the number we should have been running a month ago. Once we get the right number of employees doing the work, everyone will be happier because they aren't getting shorted hours.

Just got another month to survive and hopefully things will pick up a little.

We got a nice reprieve from the weather again today..hit 40...is winter on the way out? That would be nice, eh?

OOOHH Yea it was great out there this afternoon , I even opened the garage door and ran the flat board sander on the hull for an hour tonight, when i got home from work !!!!

There still is a few spot that I'm not really happy with , the like little waves in her that i am going to get out if i have to marine tex the hole spot to get it really flat after i take it down to the fiberglass !! If i have to take it that far !! its right in the very top on the side !! I dont want them showing up when i paint her !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds good there Mike , Its always better to get your 40 hours regularly. I have been getting a little over time here and that allways helps !!! John

Hi everyone !!!

Well the wife did something with the card to the camera , so I will have to get some pics up later !!

I am hitting it hard today , going to try and get her all sanded , still got to jack her up a little higher!!

It was a long day yesterday 12 and 1/2 hours at work , had a guy go home sick , so if i didnt stay i would have had to go in today , so worked my a@@ off. and not really doing to bad today, thought i would have been sore !!! It was our best week ever at the store last week !!!

And last week i wanted to get one more can of marine tex , and no one had any, so had to order it was supposed to be in yesterday , they never called?? will have to give them a call later !!

Man there saying 58 here today !!! yeeaaa !!!! lol But till then I got to get some heat going in there !!

LOL I got a little over 3/4 of the bottom done !!!! and there is about 3 feet on the port side to do !!!! man my arms are ready to fall off !!Back hurts in 3 spots !! got about 8 1/2 hours on it today, the arms keep giving out so there was a lot of 5 mins breaks !! and had to clean the glasses !!

Well there is allways tomorrow !!lol If i can move ??? John

HHAHAHAH Thanks Mike !!! We just got into it ,as she was walking out the door, she was telling me last night the kids dentist appt, was thurs,then this morning its today !!!!!!!!!!!! 2:45 !! so i told her I am going as is !! dust and all !! with any luck i will be done by then !!

OOOHH MAN Mike your right on the rubber arms !!

I got the BOTTOM SANDED !! she is all down to virgin gel coat , well except where the jack stands are !! and the 3 foot spot on the port side !!!

Was going to move the jack stands , but i dont think my arm could move the jack !!! hahahahahah JOhn

The thing with the rubber arms badge is that he has to keep the arms up, so I think what I'll do is once he has done all of his stuff and I am ready to start on mine, I will just get him to come over here, feed him and his entourage, and save the trouble to get that badge myself!

Sounds reasonable to me!

In the mean time I am chewing the neighbors wifes nails now to see that thing done and painted, and looking good.

Well not doing to bad today, sore but not to bad !!

THis has to be the longest part of the hole resto !!Seam like I have been doing this forever !! But she is getting there now !!

After work here the next couple days, I want to get the marine tex on so I can keep sanding next week !! It really shouldnt be that bad now got her all sanded just have to feather the marine tex in !! I am hoping I can get this next batch of sanding done in a couple days !!!

And still got to over size drill them holes on the transom , and fill them with epoxy !!! John

Y'know, I wonder what the feasibility of making a transom hole kit would be. Make an epoxy plug with the right sized hole for motor mount bolts, the right sized drill bit or hole saw and an adhesive kit. You'd drill the hole, slather the plug with adhesive, let it set and then sand the plug flush with the rest of the boat. You'd think that would be easier than trying to get a plug of peanut butter to hold in place and not ooze out.

Hou know you might be on to something there Red !!! it wouldnt cost that much to make !!! sell them for 5.99, you could just use pvc tubing and pour it in and then hack it off say inch and 3/4 just have to spray the tube with the no stick stuff !!
