Re: Planing? Prop? Performance? Help!

Work is done, bill was under $50 for a little labor and an O ring. Warranty picked-up the rest.

So we'll be out on the water retesting this weekend (weather permitting). I've heard from a lot of people on this board and a few people in the business I know personally and it seems like the general thought is that now that the motor is good to go, she may still be under-propped. What am I looking for specifically that will tell me this, or help you all tell me?

Its very simple...you run your boat to Wide Open Throttle make a note of the rpm it reached...make a note of the speed and post the result's.

I am quite sure given all the replies to this thread you will be given a pleathera of option's. You may take some time to ponder what type of money you would like to spend....125 for alum....300+ for ss. To make it short SS will give you a better hole shot and still carry the top end speed..Opps most importantly..They sure are pretty..;)

What he said ^^^^ + trimmed for max speed and loaded as you will typically use her.

we ran her today and our results were pretty much right in line with the yamaha performance bulletin. got up on plane in under 5 secs, wot and trimmed she ran 38 mph @ 6000-6250 rpms. what a difference!

Ok so my next question is...

Is there any value to trying a 13x15 and/or tabs? or is as simple as leaving it as-is if we're ok with it?

I am guessing RPM would be too high with the 15, tabs improve all v-hulls if set up properly, but if you're happy as is, then nothing says you have to spend more money . . . ;)

P.S. You do, however, need a spare prop . . .

With that motor being on the lower side of the motor rating i would install smart tabs and think they would help cut down that 5sec plane time. Not that important though i say just enjoy the boat for awhile until you feel an itch to make it better.
