Is my boat capable of speeds in excess of 60mph? Would mobster tabs work better than the smart tabs?

Can't really say, one time it did come up on plane and smooth out with nose slightly down. But do I have to be wide open for a smooth ride.

Have to admit thou, covered about a 1/2 mile in seconds, really impressed a bass boat owner with a 75hp motor

These things are sooo hard to diagnose when you are not there. I dont understand, if it is not on plane it cant porpose. My boat never porposed ever with the trim all the way down at any speed. Do you have a pin in the trim holes on the engine mount? If so, remove it. Being a new owner of the boat, are you sure the engine is in the farthest down position, it will go down fast at first, then goes real slowly on down untill it squeals when it hits bottom. Im thinking its not all the way down.

There is no pin in the trim holes at all. I have sat in the water and at home and lowered the motor until I could see no more movement several times. My standard practice when leaving the dock is to lower it all the way down while going through the no wake zone. When in the water, the trim tevel is always kept in the slow range of travel. I believe it is on plane prior to this happening. Upon acceleration, the bow rises and slowly lowers over a 10 second span. When the boat appears level with the water, for a few seconds rides fine and continues to speed up then it goes into the act.

Dang, I cant believe that you are experiencing porposing with the trim all the way down. My boat pushes so much water in that senario that you couldnt make it porpose with an elephant in the back. I still say the engine isnt all the way down.

Does the nose of the boat act like its looking for the moon when you take off, or seem somewhat normal?

The motor sounds normal, after porpoising begins I have tried to trim up some to control the effect. Have trimmed up to the point of removing prop fom water and I know that is a bad idea and I lower the rpms and trim immediately. I am going to try again this weekend using my hands to guarantee the motor is trimmed down all the way. With motor off. I have about 5 to 8 gallons of gas in the tank and may relocate the trolling motor batteries to the bow if completely trimmed down does not help.

Dont even think about it. Like I say, we are talking about the same exect set up here and I can fill the tank full and also have three batteries in the back and I have no problems.

Remember when you check if the engine is all the way down that the last bit goes very slowly. The engine will even look like its tucked under a bit.

Okay I wil do that and get back to you. Can I take it that you had another reason for mobster tabs on your unit? I also have more questions on your outboard regarding the trim tab and transom outboard length.

The boat comes down to plane, then lowers to hit the water then bounce up, then back down again, etc. After the third "boing" I reduce rpms.

Yes, there is no doubt in my mind. When my boat is trimmed all the way under, you can see water spraying out way out in front of the consols, no way on earth that you could make it porpose.

He may feel a bit silly when he comes back after checking it out again, but then it may be that there is something wrong with the trim unit and it wont go all the way down.

I don't feel silly. Just went out and compared the trim guage with the motor trim. When the guage is at the bottom, I can still get another couple of inches in downward travel out of the motor. I was going by the guage. Another adjustment to do.
