I know this one;
Back in the day when knights rode horses (do they still?), they mounted their horse from the left side, and as most were right-handed, they would fight/joust/etc., on the right. So they sort of drove from the right side of the horse. It stuck. As an added bonus, if you're driving in England, you can joust with on-coming traffic!
