There is quite a bit of slack in the steering cable. Back the nut off where it enters the tube and see if the rod will go back and forth inside the tube while disconnected from the motor. Just push and pull by hand. If it's free, the problem is forward, (cable or steering wheel mechanism) If stuck, get ready to lift the motor So the rod can be removed and cleaned up. Any old speakers will work. Just keep them dry. I've got a pair of audiovox that suit my purposes. They just have to fit the hole or you can enlarge the hole to fit whatever you have.
