Re: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine

Just a quick update. I fixed all the pictures, so this thread is useful again.

The pool has been done, the kitchen, dining room, and both bathrooms have all new electrical, plumbing, drywall/wonderboard and paint. :D I'm not done yet, still have floors, cabinets and tile to go, but things are falling into place so I can get some time back to playing with my toys again.

if the trailer and the motor turns out as good as the boat, the whole outfit will look like it just rolled off the show room floor

Re: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine

Oh Man, do I wish I had pics of her in the water. Unfortunately it's still high and dry. Tho good news is I keep checking under the cover and it's still nice and dry, so I'm good to go as soon as I have the time to do so. Who would have thought a kitchen and 2 baths would be so complicated.

Anyway I did most of my faring with Resin mixed with Micro-balloons. I had a little bit of 3M Marine filler here and there too. As I side note, I did a project at work and used the Duratec sprayable filler. That stuff id awesome to work with, applies nice and even and sands great. If I knew about it when I fared the boat I would have definitely used it.

For the rub rail, I never removed it. I sanded it smooth in place and resealed it with a bead of 5200 top and bottom. When everything was dry I put a bead of PL Premium in the the groove, pulled the rope tight and laid it in there. It was a snug fit, so I had to roll it in in spots with a scrap piece of pipe. the whole process was pretty simple, and the blue color gave it a a little "pop".

Took me a few hours to go through this entire thread. Your work is an inspiration to many here. It's kind of a bummer for me, since I don't have the skills, patience or money for a restoration like you've here!

My most serious compliments dude! That is a spectacular piece of work that you will enjoy, ride in and fish out of for many years to come. Will be wonderful for ALL OF US when you get the time to finish.

House restoration is highly over-rated!

How's this for returning form the dead. I can't say it's floating yet, but I did finally make it to my house.

I didn't trust the short bunks on edge to properly support my now heavier boat on the trip home. Not to mention that the the grease in the bearings was questionable, and the lights equally sketchy. SO....I got busy.

New LED lights and wiring did the trick. No more fussy bulbs for me. Next up was the hubs, cleaned them out real well, and repacked the bearings. One of my bearing buddies was corroded and frozen. so that got replaced also.

Finally, some new bunks and brackets. Nice and wide with fresh carpet to cradle the hull nice. I had to throw in a new winch and strap since the last one was a corroded mess.

The only thing I have left to do is add a safety chain to the bow before I tow it again.

I will be weighting everything before I do any long distance towing. I do believe I'm rapidly approaching the weight limit of this little trailer, so I'may be doing this all over again at some point in the future.

It was much easier to work up on my utility trailer than on the gravel driveway.

She's HOME!!

Glad to see you out and about and back on the site!

Hope you get 'er out on the water soon, it's a shame she doesn't have any fish slime on 'er.

Sorry about the postings. Maybe when they fix the problems it won't occur.
If you see multiple posts or Topics just flag them as duplicates. I flagged all but the 1st post. IN the Topics, it's harder for the Mods to find and delete the dups.

They've been doing a pretty good job of deleting the duplicate Topics when they happen....

Oddly, jbcurt00, flagging them came back with a error. Perhaps the mods will see, perhaps they will not. It's all good.

Somewhere a mod posted that just like the posting errors we get that are erroneous, the flag error message is too. They get them, or at least did.....
