You really need to seal the snot out of that plywood, top and bottom!!! That is an interior grade plywood and it will be hard to keep the plies together because it isn't made with the waterproof glue, it probably isn't going to last very long.

We use the exterior grade plywood for boat decks, it's made with the waterproof glue and will last a lot longer. The Aruco ACX (X stands for exterior) is only about $35 a sheet at Lowes.

Exactly What plywood did you use. Was it the Arauco exterior. If not then JNG is correct it's not going to last very long. What brand of primer and paint did you use.

Ok, your previous post said Cabinet Grade and typically that is Interior grade as JNG said. You had me worried. If you maintain it well it should last several years. Important to not let water get to the plywood through chips in the paint and such.

What do you plan to cover that slippery painted deck with?

Big thanks to silvertip for keeping me straight on the electrical layout, looks like we're gonna have 4 batteries running this lady. any how below is how it will all come from, not really sure where all the damn batteries are going to go, but we will get to that one at some point.

Lookin' good!

... but the least little bit of fish slime on that painted deck is gonna be "Slicker'n Snot on a Glass Door Knob".

thanks jig, yeah, I thought so too, so put some sand in the last two coats, it's got a real nice grip you can't really see in the pics. t

Hi dirtleg,

Just came aboard to check out your neat 'toon'...

You are doing a really nice job, gonna be one mean fishin machine...

Love the deck extensions...added quite a bit of real estate...gonna let you get right up on top of those sneaky Bass...;)

I see you got most of your wiring dilemna figured out...if I had caught you sooner, I was going to suggest the four battery set-up with the on-board chargers...that would seem to be the best of all worlds type set-up for your rig...It's gonna let you play long and hard, yet be real easy and simple when its time to put it to bed...plug it in and ready to go for the next time...

I'll be looking forward to you getting it wet and covered in Bass-goo...:D

Have Fun and Best regards,
GT1M

Re: Rebuild of the 20 Ft Pontoon, Jolleen's Hole

question regarding railing, have grinded and sanded down to the aluminum in every reachable spot and now it's time to paint them. I would like to paint them a dark color like green or black or blue to help hide all the holes that have been previously drilled into them however my boss/fishing partner/wife wants them to be white or silver, so I need to paint them. the concept of silver is growing on me however I know the aluminum will tarnish and won't stay looking nice since I've wirebrushed it to death. My thought is to fill the holes with spray foam, let it set up and trim the extra flat and then paint. now should I prime? should I use rustoleum? how would you go about this? thanks for the input!

If it were me, I'd wipe it down with acetone, prime with Rusoleum Bare Metal Primer and Spay it with rustoleum.

Hey dirtleg,

That turned into a nice Fishin Toon! Great Job! Enjoy and git-r-full of fish slime&guts...

I like wood's idea of filling with JB Weld, sand, clean, then prime and paint...

Regards,
GT1M
