Yah she will be painted over the winter have done alot of glassin still have a little water from somewhere but not more than a cup. This guy in TO is awesome the website is smithcraftfiberglass.com and his phn # is 1 877 800 7311. tell him the guy from barri sent yah. it should be about 160 bucks for 5 gallons. great deal considering 30 bucks for a litre at crappy tire. That should be lots it did my floor and some now just call a body shop to get the glass matting that will save yah some too. Hope it doesnt snow . I LL post my recent pics of floor painted and seats and trolling motor mounted. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks a lot for the info, T.O isn't that far from me either. Not sure when I will be purchasing the resin but if not too long I will mention you hehe.

A friend of mine works at a body shop but don't we need to use a marine grad fiberglass, I really don't know much about fiberglass but I will soon lol. If I can get the fiberglass from the body shop I should be golden then.

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I think fiberglass is fiberglass. Now if were talking body filler, that's another story.

Well I've been poking around fiberglass websites and there is several different types to choose from and they all have their own uses like some dry clear and others don't, some can be wet by hand and others need a vacuum system to be laid out. All depends on the style not necessarily the weight of it.

I was on a website that had a 6oz x 50" cloth very cheap $2.00 yard but it said "Not suitable for hand wet out, should be vacuum bagged" now if some one bought that and didn't read the message or bought it some where else they would have a hell of a time trying to get the air bubbles and or it to stay in place.

I guess that's like saying wood is wood... Auto motive does not need structural integrity when it comes to fixing a rusted out door or fender so the fiberglass they use would probably be a less inferior type compared to a boat fiberglass where all of the glass used must be strong and durable.

I could be wrong too but it makes sense to me.

that fiberglass should be fine the thicker stuff is better for more serious areas but a couple layers of the regular stuff is just as good. hope it all turns out well

Bought EXACTLY the same boat (same color) a month ago from a 94 year old friend who has had it for over twenty years. I am almost at the same point with the floor out, and ready to reinforce and repair the fibreglass on the ribs, before glassing one side of a new sheet of plywood for a new floor. Once in place with stainless screws, I'll glass over the whole thing and attach to the sides of the hull. Took a lot of polishing compound and scratch remover to get rid of all the oxidization, and cleaned up well. trying to keep as much original as possible. like you, it continues on. Hope to have it here in the ocean at beautiful Oyster Pond, N.S. in early fall....
