I am replacing the ign. parts on the plate on an RDE-17. I was supplied with a new oiling felt for the cam---- but it looks
like the holder has a tiny hole that there might have been a tiny metal screw to retain the felt in the bracket...... Can someone confirm the use of a screw there ???? and what size ? looks like it could be a #3 or #2 (tiny)

Also - incidentally--- does it make any difference which spark plug is driven by which one of the Ign. sides ?
I cant think of any reason why it would since there are only 2 cylinders-- and no "firing order" ...... :)

Just getting back to my boats and motors ! Been doing other projects for a while......

Thanks--- Tim

(I would like to get two of these built up and run twins on the orlando clipper)

No screw in that item !----The bracket will hold the felt in place all by itself.----It sure does matter which plug wire you put on the top cylinder.----The front coil fires the top cylinder !

The jagged edges of that hole you are looking at poke into the felt to hold it from sliding out of the clip.

The ‘screw’ location on the Oiler-felt holder is just a dimple to help secure the felt on install.

Thanks to all there on the felt. I guess the hole is just where the little triangular teeth came out from. I actually
found a microscopic solid aluminum rivet that fit through the hole- I used that to hold the felt on. It should be easy to remove
when the felt gets changed.

I guess even though it doesnt have a distributor--- it does have a clock position on the crank where the intake happens---
so if the plug wires were reversed you'd be sparking at the incorrect time in the cycle sequence -------- that makes sense now----
I had marked it on the ignition plate with a sharpie--- but washed it off accidentally when I took the plate off to clean it.
Front goes to top----- that will be good to get correct :)

I will be testing it in the next day or two to see if it will run as-is. At least all the IGN will be new. I looked down the
carb inlet and it looks spotless ( no shellac or bugs or mud dobbers or visible corrosion)
I have a carb overhaul kit comming next week and a new water impeller. I made a flush device to go on the
reverse water intake. ( I read that was the easiest way to get water into it with a water hose for flush and testing-)
I am hoping that will supply enough water to run at idle safely . (assuming the impeller
doesnt work---) (opinions on that ?)

Should I go ahead and do the water pee-er mod on top to be able to see the impeller working for later on when Im running
it in the boat ? (doing a light restoration of the motor now)
