Re: shhhhh.....redwings, penguins.

After the traditional Stanley Cup parade honouring the 1979 Montreal Canadiens, star forward Guy Lafleur impulsively grabbed the Stanley Cup and placed it in the trunk of his car. He then drove to his parents' house in Thurso, Quebec, where he displayed the Cup on the front lawn and allowed friends and family to photograph and enjoy the trophy. While Thurso residents enjoyed the prank, the men responsible for the Cup's safety were searching frantically for the missing prize. Lafleur returned the Cup later that night, but was told never to repeat his stunt.

Re: shhhhh.....redwings, penguins.

In 1924, Montreal Canadiens players on their way to a victory party stored the trophy in the trunk of their car. On their way to the festivities, the vehicle had a flat. The players removed the Cup to get at the spare, changed the tire and drove off leaving the Stanley Cup sitting on a snow bank. When it came time to drink champagne from the Cup they realized they didn't have it with them. They drove back to where they changed the tire and thankfully the Cup was still there.

Exciting??? 2 shutouts,1 game and another blowout except for the goalie and overtime. My guess is orders from the NHL. Nobody was watchin the series.

In 1996, Colorado Avalanche defenseman Sylvain Lefebvre christened his child in the bowl of the Stanley Cup after his championship season.

Those 2 shut outs both had empty net goals, which made them seem bigger wins then they were. Then the next 4 games were decided by a total of 4 goals, and one game went to 3 OT's, and all the games but the first one were in question right down to the end. Guess we see it a little different.

My brother lives in Lexington, so I am by Les a time or two a year. Going for a wedding, but looking forward to killing fish more than the wedding of my niece - I love her dearly, but given a choice between a wedding on a 90 degree, sunny day, or fishing when the white bass are running, umm, sorry Erin, but I would rather be fishing! :p:eek:

We do see it a little different, the scores in the first 2 games and the 4th don't tell the story as I see it. Shots on goal and game control is what I am referring too. Game 3 was the only one I thought was any good.

Re: shhhhh.....redwings, penguins.

Man what a night for my team. Winning on hostile ice against a very talented team. Wow this town is gonna be nuts for the next few nights. My hat is off to the Penguins though, they made a definite series out of this. Despite Detroit's dominance in many aspects they consistently battled and made the wins tough. I only hope they can keep their core intact with the cap issues they may have coming up. They, the team and fans, deserve and should be proud of what they accomplished. I can only speak for myself as a spectator but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

There is a guy that won't get much credit in all this and I feel a reason to mention his play. Dallas Drake, this guy completely changed the presence of the Wings. Finally he gets to lift the grail.

I know it doesn't mean much, but all of the Penguin nation should stand proud tonight. Cheers to all, this series was one of the best in a long time. I'm torn as to whether I want the casual person to catch on to the game. But I will take this type of final every year. Just a number of great games in a row.

Good night, and great game.

PS: The answer to Oops question is and i may be wrong the Montreal Wanderers or Ottawa Senators. I read it earlier today on another site but not sure.

PSS: As deserving as Z was, I feel Osgood should have gotten the Conn Smythe.
