I was lookin at the same boat here with a Rude 150 although they wanted way more than what it was worth due to the condition it was in. The motor was in great condition but the boat was not great.

This year of guiding really took its tole on this one, I now need new opolstery and carpet.

I paid $6,000 for this one two years ago, I think now that I paid too much for it at the time. Id be lucky to get $4,500 for it after doing the opolstery.

I would guess that it's early 90's model year for boat and motor by the look of the motor. Is that an 18 footer? yeah you paid too much! Looks like you have the trim up too high with that rooster tail, they said you're loosing lots of efficiency running like that.

Its because you need to raise your engine at least one more hole, maybe two. Most likely. Or maybe you just dont have enough beans. ;)

Why would you change the factory set up? would there be any negative effects? I know if you raise the engine you would gain some speed right? but then the factory set up was optimized all the delicate balance of performance, efficiency, and safety.

If you beleive that you are indeed nieve!!! (Or are you funnin with us)? They stick em on where ever they want that day. Just a ball park estimate. The final setup is up to the owner of the boat depending on what he wants and the load of the boat.

Lube,

You told them you were showing off, but you didn't tell them if it was just for this photo (which is my understanding) or if you run it like this all the time. Personally, I couldn't see you screaming your engine like this constantly. Gotta admit, it looks cool, but like smokin' burn-outs, you wouldn't do it all the time. Engines, gas, and tires, get expensive.

Dan

Yep, you are correct, actually, that picture is with the High Five prop, 5,800 WOT RPM,full trim, 54MPH. If bump it down to where the roostertail is about even with the top of the engine cover I will gain about another 3MPH. Showing off is a great waist of fuel and eficiency.

if i raise the motor would'nt that increase my chine walk at higher speeds. i think i'm at the hulls max speed limit!

Yeah man! if you're already doing 55mph, don't change your setup. Roostertail is the exact equivalent of burning rubber, the only thing it does is cost you more money.

Re: Should say Tracker, Nitro!!

As Lubedude has mentioned, raising the engine in your case should help stability. Prop choice for those running heigths is important too.
My 18ft Deep-V goes THROUGH 55 with no chinewalk, it's all in the set-up, and don't depend on the dealer for best set-up either...to be honest, maybe 1 out of 7 or 8 actually knows how to set up a particular model.

Carefull there, you are getting real close to showing some ignorence on this subject. Roostertail isnt what we are after here, performance is. If the boat is set up properly you will be able to show off if you want to but you will also be able to adjust the trim for maximum speed. If you can trim your engine all the way up at WOT and not blow out or almost, your engine is not at its optimum setting for that particular boat and prop.
