Ya, its called, Showing off!!!Originally posted by gonefishie:
Looks like you have the trim up too high with that rooster tail, they said you're loosing lots of efficiency running like that.
Its because you need to raise your engine at least one more hole, maybe two. Most likely. Or maybe you just dont have enough beans.Originally posted by cwilt:
i have a nitro 640 with a 90 hp and i can't get a rooster like that!!! she'll go 55 mph though. after that, its chine walk baby.
Why would you change the factory set up? would there be any negative effects? I know if you raise the engine you would gain some speed right? but then the factory set up was optimized all the delicate balance of performance, efficiency, and safety.

Its because you need to raise your engine at least one more hole, maybe two. Yep, you are correct, actually, that picture is with the High Five prop, 5,800 WOT RPM,full trim, 54MPH. If bump it down to where the roostertail is about even with the top of the engine cover I will gain about another 3MPH. Showing off is a great waist of fuel and eficiency.Originally posted by wannagofishin:
Lube,

You told them you were showing off, but you didn't tell them if it was just for this photo (which is my understanding)
Dan
Yeah man! if you're already doing 55mph, don't change your setup. Roostertail is the exact equivalent of burning rubber, the only thing it does is cost you more money.
if i raise the motor would'nt that increase my chine walk at higher speeds. i think i'm at the hulls max speed limit!

If the boat is set up properly you will be able to show off if you want to but you will also be able to adjust the trim for maximum speed. If you can trim your engine all the way up at WOT and not blow out or almost, your engine is not at its optimum setting for that particular boat and prop.
