well I decided to get one of the 3 boats out of storage today! started first pull and ran great :D....now I'm in the mood for some boating!! once it warms up a bit and the night temps get above freezing, I will be at the lake. how about everyone else, who has got the urge to get their boats roaring so far?

I'm ready too. I gave the boat her Spring cleaning today. I guess Spring has been here for a while in FL, but we're wusses, so it has to hit mid 70s before I hit the water. I gotta take the the boat to the shop to get all of the power head gaskets replaced for good measure, but after that she should be go to go.

Supposed to be 75 here today in SC. Just need to charge the battery and clean the boat. Boat has been sitting since September because of the low water levels. Anxiety level is always high until I here her running the first time. Been sitting way too long. I put Stabill in the fuel. Supposed to be high winds, so may have to cancel :(

When I dropped mine in a few weeks ago the smell of starting fluid was around the ramp.

I got one out and fired her up last week.. but that was because I was selling her. Ran like a champ! My new one is a rebuild so I'm working away knowing it won't be much longer till we hit the water!

I know last year I was already launched and boating by now, the weather was dynamite up here in ontario! the river still has some ice chunks floating around the the lake I boat on is still frozen solid so I guess I will just have to wait a little while longer :(

Re: spring is in the air!

I have made a few trips to the barn and did a few tiny things but it has got to get a lot warmer to really get going. I was at C-ME marine store recently and I was laughing with staff there as they said first upper 50 degree day in western NY and they get busy...even if its months away from the season. We boaters are a strange, dedicated sort. I start wanting to get back in the water the moment after I winterize. After the holidays I start making lists of things I want to do in the spring and you can tell where I have been by the trail of boating catalogs and magazines.

Last year at this time I'd already been boating for a couple of weeks. In fact it was getting to be almost uncomfortably warm. News last night said when they had the local St Patricks day parade last year the high was 82?. Video of parade watchers in skivvies and flip flops. Going to be low 30s this year.

The 2013 shakedown cruise was yesterday! Changed lubes in the gear cases, did an oil change and decided to wash her down and toss her in the drink. It was shorts and T-Shirts weather down here, but not warm enough for swimming or anything like that yet. Coupla' hours on the water and playin' with the ducks for a few :)

All day, last Sunday. 3rd time out, this year. Upper Potomac River. I love getting out in high water in my 18 footer. Great, sunny day, no high water. Cooked brauts on a wood fire and hung with friends. Made a better Monday!;)

Definitely ready for spring. Last year at this time in MN it was 80degrees. Tomorrow they are saying -20 wind chills.

I just got back from Maui and I've learned how unfair mother nature is!
