Re: Starcraft project: "STOLEN" PIC UPDATE 7-31-09 COMPLETED!!

you wouldnt happen to have any throttle cables laying around, would you? i think i may need a new trim pump too because its still leaking a bit, seems like from the manual release...

so you want to come out to chateaugay lake with your rig today in case this motor dies out in the middle of the lake??

no cables sorry....just the ones on the ss.

i could drag the 14 footer up just incase if you want me to.. what time??

i need to move the axle on my rig before going too far...too much tongue weight :(

Re: Starcraft project: "STOLEN" PIC UPDATE 7-31-09 COMPLETED!!

well i had a very successful test run!!!

top speed wasnt what i was hoping for, but i think im going to try trimming out to the 3rd hole because she wasnt coming out of the water as high as she should. but in pretty rough (1 1/2 foot) water i topped out just shy of 35 with 3 adults and 6 gal gas. but man o man does she jump out of the hole. in the video i eased her out, but did some hole shots that made her jump up and go.

at idle at first she ran a little rough, but after getting out and opening her up she ran smooth after that.

cedarjunkie came out with me and he took some video as well... im sure he'll be along shortly...

sorry about seeing my leg for a good amount of the video, my brother in law is not a cinematographer...

okay video coming next post... its taking a while to upload...

Awesome! I'm really glad she ran right out of the box for you. Fantastic. To me it sounded like it wasn't all the way reved out. You may have some more RPM left in her. Time to get a tach and start playing with motor height, props, etc. But you're at were I was with my Jupiter so that's a darn good start.

The video was great. I felt like I was right there in your lap :p

When I trimmed it out more it just revved up a ton and could barely get out of the hole. I'd still try it if I were you as it's super easy to switch and then switch back if you don't like it. I think it might also be a motor height thing. The motor on my SS is mounted up a hole from where the one on the Jupiter was. I believe I had a 17 pitch prop. I can actually look for you because I still have the prop with the spun hub that I replaced.

i know this has a 17p prop, but cant make out the diameter... i think it says 13 and maybe 3/4? hard to read. so you are saying i should try raising the motor a notch?

13 and 3/4s sounds right. Yes, raise it.

Where's the anti-ventilation plate in relation to the bottom of the hull? Got a picture of the new motor bolted on?

I think my CMC bracket is actually too high on my Merc.
