Re: Starcraft SS Specific Transom Replacement Questions: My Rebuild Project

Yeah that's nice. Pretty much what CheapBoatKev (I think it was him) did on his w/ the blue bottom. I had considered it but in red. Like I said, I'm really on the fence. If I have to scrap the reg numbers and get new ones it's no big deal. They were only $10. I'd like to not waste the Starcraft logo's for the sides but it is what it is I guess. I'll keep thinking it over. I just want something simple.

You can also incorporate another accent color and the alternate logo?

Now thats Eye Candy it is very attractive. It breaks up the straight lines . I have a 22 Ft Holiday and I was surprised when I measured the lettering. First time I'v been wrong in at least the last hour . Looking great.

OK I did some more playing around w/ Starman's design. I'm not a fan of the two colors crossing at the bottom so I altered it. I am also going to stick w/ Red/White/Blue. Patriotic and all. :p Keep in mind in the pic the boat is primer gray but the boat and white stripe will match in the end.

Whatcha think?

Now I really like this. I'd just need that one section of the Starcraft logo cut in blue to match. Problem would be matching vinyl to paint though.

And all the lines along the bottom (red/white/red/blue) will all be same thickness. I just slapped that on real quick.

The first one is better, don't mess with the original decal in white, and.....................I can link you to the place where I bot the sheet vinyl, same make and mil as the original decal, at a great price.................cheap

My remaining vinyl pieces are grey, silver, pacific, and royal blue.

I also have a template for the alternate logo, but I am sure you can make one easily.............and

review your angle........................the added logo should be slanted identical to the original one you bot

If I do it, I'm doing it in paint. No vinyl other than the starcraft logo

I like the design a lot. Seriously. However, I think I'd like to see the blue replaced with a perhaps a darker gray. (at the risk of being called a pinko commie) I think red, white, and blue, can look a little cheesy.

Since the boat will be white and not grey, try the alternate logo keeping the blue for contrast and style and the other half grey to grab the interior also.

Current designs use up to 4-5 colors excluding the main base color.

Ok. I've been tweaking it all and think I came up with a good final design. Just need some opinion on color placement. Which one do you like better?

As long as I have red and gray it'll flow good w/ the interior. As it stand now #2 is my preference. I think the red as the main color seems a little bold. Also remember the boat is white not the gray color it shows in the pic.

Re: Starcraft SS Specific Transom Replacement Questions: My Rebuild Project

I've decided on the blue being the main color.

Got out there today as it was beautiful and got half of the bottom sanded and primed. Got to finish up the other side still and paint a coat of white. Going to rain M-W. I'll try to get the rest of the paint done on my long weekend as long as the weather cooperates. Getting the boat up off of the trailer is proving to be a little bit of a pain but it's working. Lifting the whole back makes the whole boat want to swing off the trailer so I have to tilt it and do one side at a time. I have a way of keeping the boat off the rollers as I feel they will just rip uncured paint right off. If the bottom isn't perfect it won't really bother me too much. That paint was in good shape. Just a lot of grime.

Re: Starcraft SS Specific Transom Replacement Questions: My Rebuild Project

Whole bottom is primed. Now time to stuff my face. :D Come tomorrow AM a coat of white on the bottom and the side design may begin to take shape between bottom coats. I plan to have all paint done by the end of the week. Let's hope it works out that way.

In between all the painting I need to:
-Clean up and glue back in place the transom cap
-Figure out what i'm doing about a few holes still in the transom (Old Transducer holes). Might leave them open for now as I am currently shopping for fish finders. One or so holes are bound to line up.
-Sand/Prime/Paint the gunwales, consoles, and bow
-Mount my new pitot and run the hose
-Sand/Prime/Paint and reinstall splash well
-Mount motor

I'm thinking about 5-6 more days of work. Maybe all done by next weekend? I'm being optimistic :D If all of the paint can be done by this weekend the weather will only hinder me in me being cold. This has got to be the end of my luck with nice days for the year.

My 22 1975 holiday Has the same design fromthe factory but the STARCRAFT name is smaller I think it blends in better with the smaller Name .The large letters looks more like a advertisment ,then just the brand name on the side.

Re: Starcraft SS Specific Transom Replacement Questions: My Rebuild Project

Splash well is in and primed, gunwales are primed. That's about all I got done for the day. As time goes on I may just end up scrapping the design. Just buy some black reg numbers and call it a day. I have a feeling the design is just going to be a huge headache.

I just want to get on the water again. These last few days with 65 degree weather has been killing me. I'll probably just do the black reg numbers to get it back on the water now and decide if I want to do the design in the spring.

Thanks for the offer! I already have the white numbers on hand though. I'll put an order for a set of black in on ebay or something tomorrow.

You've really lucked out with the weather. Been killing me that I haven't taken advantage of it myself and done any boating but I'm consoled by the fact that the river is probably full of crap from the 2" of rain we just got.
