Awesome job! Getting to the fun stuff!

I would grind the glass w/a coarse grit and acetone wash before gluing... give it some tooth, and remove any waxes from the surface of the resin.

Don't ask how I know about that

that looks like a diving board. i doubt it will be that bad.
I agree, it sure does. The boat paint job is looking good. I cannot wait to see the finished product.

*****UPDATE*****

Finally got the carpet glued down (had a busy week). I am satisfied with how it looks, what do you guys think? I'll probably stay off of it for a day or two, and then start putting the console/seat/fishfinder etc. back in. Also got all the wiring done that I need right now, and got the front and stern lights installed and working

The best non-skid that I ever put down was on a Tin Can ie USS Kennith D. Bailey DDR713 in 1969. We laid a coat of "asphalt varnish" = boot topping and covered it with a layer of beach sand, let dry over night for three days so that we had about a half to three quarter inch coating.

Re: Started rolling on some rustoleum today

Well got up this morning and decided that it'd probably be ok to go ahead and put the console back in so I could hook up the controls and steering, plus I really wanted to see it :D!! I actually moved the console about 4 inches forward I I've always thought the boat is aft-heavy. I used new stainless screws and washers to attach it. I also made a switch panel (that still needs paint) and mounted the three switches I have, in it. All in all it went pretty smooth other than a run to town to replace bad hardware. Here are the fruits of my labor. Enjoy!!

Perhaps you could thin out a batch and reroll it with no nonskid. That may smoothi it a bit and 2 coats certainly can't hurt in a high traffic area either.

Got the fishfinder installed today. I can smell the open water LOL. Hopefully me and my bro will get it out and do a sea trial tomorrow afternoon.

Nice Finder... Nice work!..

Hopefully you sealed the SCREW HOLES you drilled to mount the sensor. Or else you'll be looking at a transom rebuild in the future. Good luck on the Sea Trial tomorrow.

What primer did you use, I am going to paint my trihull with rustoleum almond color, this is the proffesional paint and not the marine paint?

I didn't use a primer, but they do sell one that you can use with the paint. I just sanded the gel-coat and rolled on 2-3 coats depending on the area. I used the marine topside rustoleum, not the professional paint  don't really know anything about it.

Nope, don't need a primer on gel coat above the waterline. It's only necessary below the waterline if you intend to leave your boat in the water for more than 72 hours at a time or you use a bunked trailer. That type of primer is actually a barrier coating and is usually a two part epxoy primer. You can if you want but the gel coat provides adequate adheasion if it's properly de-waxed and sanded.

Re: Started rolling on some rustoleum today

Well took it out and it ran GREAT!! So happy that everything went well. Forgot to take the camera though  sorry. The buddy that went with me has a humminbird fishfinder also and showed me a lot of cool features on my new unit. Wanna thank everyone that gave advice/opinions on this project. I'm sure it wouldn't have turned out as well as it did, if I had never found all of the great information on this forum. Feel free to still ask questions about anything, I'll try to answer to the best of my ability!

65mech, it was actually made by a company called Traveler boats. They were only in business for a few years in the 80s I believe. I have noticed that it does closely resemble the cobia sunskiffs though. The only thing I can think of is that Cobia bought Traveler out and used their molds etc.

Cool, just wondering, what size and year motor are you running on your boat, and does it feel aft-heavy? I have a '73 65 hp and I feel like mine sits a little low in the back and I have a porpoising problem. Thinking about some smart tabs. Just thought I'd pick your brain a little bit. :D

Re: Started rolling on some rustoleum today

i currently have a 83 75 johnson. it rides a lil front light but i like it that way, i fish alot of ocean and it can go from flat to 2-4 quick. im actually looking for a 90hp. but since im doing a complete overhaul i extended the cc 3in forward to put my livewell in. from the casting deck/front storage front of the cc is 21 inches back. 2 batteries under console. 12 gal tank at the stern. i thought smart tabs were to even out listing issues?
once im completely done im doing a tansom extender. we did it to my buddys 17fter that was set up like ours and it did wonders. even gained a couple of mph's
