Re: Starting problems

Hook a jumper wire from the + battery termainal to the + terminal of the coil and see if it will start. To shut it off, just disconnect the jumper. This will tell you if the engine runs, then we can track down the reason for low voltage.

I still want to know what was wrong with your battery cable.

Re: Starting problems

Actually it was the end that mounts to the block. I cut back the wrap and the wires were green and some were broken. Just goes to prove that all your preaching about connections turns out to be the actual word of god!

Just read this, missed it before.
many of us that do this for a living understand that it's not just something to check. Many, many times those cables are just total crap.

A word to the wise here.
Start a new thread with your igniton problem, this thread is just too long and things on what distributor you have and all that is just to hard to find and mixed in with answers to questions that didn't go anywhere.
It will just make it easier and faster to find your problem.

Re: Starting problems

what color wires are on the + and - posts of the coil.

On the + side is the red wire from the distributor, the purple/yellow wire from the slave solenoid and another wire from the wire harness

On the - side are two grey wires and the black wire from the distributor
