Still Having Site Problems?

I used to use the profile function that allowed seeing a list of your own posts, quite a bit. For the last couple of months, it hasn't worked. I click on it and nothing happens.

I though I remembered seeing a thread, that said this was a known problem and was being worked on, but I can't find it now.

Is this function still not working?

I noticed the profile page has changed too... I don't like the new page for the same reason as Jay.... Can we have the old format back please?

Click on the statistics on the profile page.......

achris .....no it will not go back to the old........

The software has been upgraded and actually it is going to move ahead even further to a newer version. Presently, it has to be done in small steps (software upgrade we have all been through them). The Moderation staff tolerates the same issues because the software changes are done at a higher level.

Please bear with the changes..... we have been promised it will be better.

Thanks. ;)

Like Microslush promised with Vista??? :D:D:D:D

Will bear with you guys...

Good luck (I think you're going to need it. I am yet to see a software upgraded on software that worked well going anything but downhill)....

Chris.......
And if you think I'm being unreasonably pessimistic.... I worked in the computer industry as an operating system specialist for over 10 years in the 80's.

Re: Still Having Site Problems?

Does this mean that I have to subscribe to a thread, in order to find it later, without using the search functions?

Jay,
I found exactly the same problem, but in a random thread someone mentioned that if you look at the top right corner under "Private Messages" it says "My Replies".
That will at least give all posts to which you have contributed.
I have found that more useful and quicker than the other....:)

Instead of clicking on it, right click on it and tell it to open in a new tab and then you can use it. All other sites that use the same software work fine with IE8 so there is a configuration error with Iboats that is causing this or an older version of software.

Re: Still Having Site Problems?

Jay, I have that exact problem using IE. The others use Firefox and it dosen't seem to be a problem. I just refuse to change my browser for one internet site.

I personally feel that iboats software should be compatible with the most popular web browser on the internet, so I am sticking to my guns and will suffer by opening up a new tab each time.

Ladyfish, I agree wholeheartedly. I run my own website for a vaction home that I own and rent. If I knew it didn't work with IE, I would fix it immediately!

I am noticing a difference also.

I used to be able to r. click on a name and see all post's
by that person. Now that doesn't work.

I have to do search by member and then I can find all their
posts.

Is this just "my" computer illiteracy or the new i-boats
software slowly coming around?

Re: Still Having Site Problems?

So, I found the "My Replies" thing and it does what I want it to do - sort of. The problem with it, is that it lists every thread that I have commented in, but the order is "most recent by anyone" - not by me. That means I have to wade through all sorts of threads that I might not have commented in for weeks, before I find what I want.

LF,

You would do yourself a favour by moving away from IE. It attracts the greatest number of 'hack attempts' and is well known to have serious security issues. (That's why Microslush have to keep releasing security updates... It has a lot of holes that hackers can sneak though)

I started using Firefox about 2 years ago, and it is WAY faster and a lot easier to use.

The reason you are seeing sites that have issues with IE and not FF is because web designers are finally acknowledging that a non-Microsludge product is better, and are designing accordingly...

I'm sorry but that is just absolute nonsense. Clearly you are biased against Microsoft for reasons of your own but if you are going to make statements like above please provide some facts to back it up.

The problem is exactly as bruceb described it. Iboats is using an old version of the vBulliten software or has an incompatible setting that causes this issue. Many sites use this forum software; iBoats is the only that I've seen with this issue.

Yeap. I can't use PM, mark forums read, search or do most anything except post. When it gets to the point that I can't post anymore, I'll just move along. I certainly won't change my browser software that works perfectly well on every other site that I use or visit.

Only the ones that don't care if they sell anything.

I am sure Amazon and Ebay wouldn't care if IE didn't work correctly with their sites right?

Re: Still Having Site Problems?

Hi Everyone,
I spoke with Bob (VT.) earlier and we talked about this issue. I will be looking into this more to see what we can do about it. As of now, I would agree with something that was mentioned before which is to use a different browser. For me, I use diff browsers all the time and it's nice and easy. I'm not trying to push anyone away from Microsoft at all, just want to help alert you of whats working. I do know Firefox is working fine. Bob mentioned that Google Chrome works great for him. I've used Safari and didn't have a problem. So for now, feel free to try one of these to see if it helps you. But I will be sure to try to see what changes can be made.

Re: Still Having Site Problems?

I have a funny feeling all the problems are ISP related. Why do I say that. Well let me explain.
I have IE7 on Window XP Home on this and one other computer.
When we live in Alaska, the forum was so slow, no matter what happened and what upgrades were done by iboats, it was slow. In Ketchikan, I had 2 choices of ISP's one was slow, the other was slower or didn't work at all most of the time.
Then in 2007 we moved down here to Washington. Same computers, same Browsers, same everything. Thing is, every thing worked fast. Nothing changed but the ISP.
2010. Still the same old computers, same Browsers, same Operating systems, and now a another computer (laptop) with Vista using IE7. (NOT 8)
Everything works just fine, PM's, everything.
Even at work on a completely different ISP, have no problems with anything from iboats.......... It all works.
I have Firefox at work and here, both work fine.

So go figure, different ISP's have different levels of spam blocking for email, and who knows what else it blocks. So it just may not be iboats problem. If your ISP is blocking something, there is no way around it. Your ISP will not believe it is thier fault and will not fix anything.
Good luck is about all I can say, and hope you can find a workaround.
