Re: student tracking IDs, security vs freedom
That is often the first shot in a very weak argument.
" I can't believe anyone could disagree with...ME."
Reading the entire thread, there are some compelling arguments put forth for both sides.
Yours just makes me think of tin foil hats and the like.

First, Captain Frank, allow me to rebut the comment above in bold italics. You mis-interpretted my words; I will not stand in anyone's way to hold a different opinion than my own, but I will attempt to alter (what I believe to be) the error of thier ways.
Tin foils hats and the like, huh? You are in a great position for me to put forth a slightly different story, but along the same lines as my first post, if you'll hear me out (so to speak). You, being one of our neighbors to the north, should be able to understand my arguement with a bit more objectivity than, say, a fellow U.S. american.
Approximately 235 years ago, in this section of North America, a large group of farmers, ranchers, and shopkeepers, along with the Continental army, got very tired of a terrible increase in taxation by the established governmental body that was in place. When that group protested to the leader of that government, they were told (effectively), that they would do as ordered, and keep thier mouths shut. History shows us the outcome of those events.
In 1913, there was a plan put forth by the established governmental body to institute a (supposed) temporary tax in order to help pay for the World War. (WW1 as it's known today) This tax was supposed to be voluntary, and temporary, only until the end of that war. (This is the beginning of what should have been shut down as soon as it was mentioned.) It was (by today's standards), a rather paltry sum, something like 3% of one's annual income. It did not go away after that war, but continued on, growing over the decades, through another "world war", and into the next millenia, into what we here in the U.S. have today. It financed a horribly bloated governmental system, (along with the "good old boy" network that is inherent in such things), multitude of "allowances" and "deductions", numerous government "sting operations" that most think is completely illegal, and any number of things done by that same government that is arguably unconstitutional. It's called "Income Tax"......the very reason we forcibly kicked the British out of this country.
I make my judgement about the GPS trackable chips, whether they be bracelets, anklets, or implants, by looking at past deeds done by those who would reap the most "benefit", or have the most access to such technology. I, in no way, would trust those in positions of authority, any further than I could see them, even if we could flush them down the privy. (Which is where most of them belong, being the thieves and scoundrels that they are.)
So......I suggest to you that I'm not trying to say those who disagree with my position are below average intelligence, but are seeing the situation from an incorrect viewpoint. I can certainly see how one might want to "protect" little Sally, or Grandma Jane, but as I see it, the cost, (in the long term), is far too high.
Tin foil hats and the like, indeed.....
Respectfully.....Roger
