None of us know when our day will come, that's why we must always "be ready". Prayers to the family......

Re: Tashasdaddy Has passed away

Well, this is so sad for his family and the boating community.

He has transcended our ocean to a sea where carbs never clog, plugs never foul, water pumps always work, head gaskets never blow, pistons never seize (but are holy), rings never stick, impellers never need replacing, skeg strikes are unheard of, bilges are always dry, batteries stay charged, fish jump in the boat, there is no bottom fouling, gel-coat shines forever, canvas does not rot, you never run out of gasoline, engines aways start on the first pull, the sea is always glassy, nothing ever corrodes or rusts, anchors never foul, power packs never fail.....in short, boating Nirvana.

Godspeed my man, we are not too far behind, hold a seat for us all will ya? Oh, and be sure the beer is cold!

Re: Tashasdaddy Has passed away

Man, this news hit me in the chest like a punch. He was one of the first people to help me here, im sure many had that experience. He will be very missed. I dont know what else to say...

exactally.....me too

bob was a cancer survivor, and just a strong person in general. we had a lot on common.
i never met him face to face, i always planed i would just be able to "show up" at a i boats get together in fla and suprize him.

im truly shocked over this. i knew he was busy when he stepped back from being a mod....but i didnt really guess of health/medical problems to be part of that decision.

i will be following the memorials

Sorry to hear of Roberts passing.

I am surprised at how little information (as in none) there is in his obituary. I recall that he was estranged from family, or something to that effect, so that would explain it.

He was only 62.

51,031 posts since November 11th, 2005.

His last post was October 26th, 2010.

TD didn't limit his helpful advice to boats either. i pm'd with him more than once for help working on things around my house. he was a wealth of knowledge on many fronts.

RIP TD. you will be missed.

That is really sad. I've got family in Jax and always intended to stop by and say hi to him while down there but never did. I'm truly sorry I didn't make that effort. My best wishes to all his family.

He was very close, I believe, to his sister and her family with whom he went to the Keys every year.

I am sad to hear this.
TD was a great guy with common sense thinking that I admired.
Appeared to not be influenced by the lasted fad, idea, etc.
Did his thing as he saw fit.

Yes, he was. And she is the one planning on taking his remains to BigPine. I am trying to get in touch with her. They may be having a memorial service for him down there per Branden...

Rick..
Please let me know if you learn anything further, and if it would be possible for some of his Florida friends to attend.

Re: Tashasdaddy Has passed away

I'm glad to hear he had his sister with him. Knowing people who have no family to be with them in their last days is sad. Its good he had the comfort of his sister.

Anyone know about a wife or children? I tried searching for some of the early doc side posts when he first joined, but a large amount of the early posts were lost during software and or server upgrades along the way.

I would be interested in knowing more about his life outside of iboats. Not to be nosy, but to get more insight into the man from a broader view of the his life.

Re: Tashasdaddy Has passed away

Bob had a few vices...and none of this is to be said in a negative manner. Hell, none of us are perfect; certainly not me. It seemed as if he knew his days were numbered and he was going to do what he wanted.

You rarely found him without one of his swisher sweets or a drink in his hand!

To say he lived his life fully is an understatement. He sure reminds me a lot of my Dad..who recently passed away. He liked living his life and wanted to be left to his own devices.

He has two children that he is estranged from. When Bob went through a divorce some years ago, he never heard from his son and daughter again.

I have spoken to Branden again to get some more information about his memorial service. It seems Bob wanted just his immediate family involved. I am trying to reach his sister to let her know the Iboats community would like to know some more about it.

Branden has adopted Tasha. She has been aware of his absence...but Branden says she is doing well. Especially romping with his dog outside during the cold snap..

I will try to post up more later as I get more information. Branden indicated he may try to come on here and say a few things about Bob....

Thanks Rick.

Although this is a slightly different version then SBN'S it sounds like it fits Bob to a tee.

?Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!?

Tell Branden since Bob taught him everything he knew, Branden now needs to give us 27 posts a day for the next 7 years.....:(

RIP Bob---I really miss you on the JE forum and will catch you on the other side!
