Re: Thanks for the help.

The help I've gotten here is fantastic. Anyone with an old motor can appreciate how tough a problem can be to solve.
Joe Reeves and DHadley have certainly helped me plenty. Thank God you guys are here is all I can say. Spring is coming, time to put the boat in, so I am sure I will be back sooner or later asking for more help too.

But really guys..thanks

Re: Thanks for the help.

I thank my lucky stars for stumbling upon the Iboats site. My first rebuild wouldn't have been possible without all the solid advise I received. I would like to thank OBJ and Rodbolt and especially Hooty! I had the previlege of meeting Hooty and he went WAY out of his way to help a stranger who didn't know much about engines at the time. Now I can probably do my second rebuild mostly on my own. I couldn't have been more thankful and Hooty couldn't have been any more generous of his time. Now I know why the experience veterans on this site offer up their expert advise as I can begin to imagine the feeling you guys get in helping someone who is truly in need.

Re: Thanks for the help.

Everyone,

I just purchased a 1991 Skeeter with an Evinrude 48 SPL motor and I have no idea what I'm doing. Many thanks to everyone who has responded to my numerous very simple questions, and a special 'atta boy' to Joe Reeves, Commander, Member # 6826.

Joe has been an incredible source of information, and it is very much appreciated. Again, thanks to everyone who helps out us new guys and keeps us on the water.

Re: Thanks for the help.

Great site, all replies to my qureies have been helpful - even when the problem wasn't fixed, my understanding has improved. Browsing old threads is a fantastic source of information. I only hope that one day I'll find a thread that I can participate in and be of assistance to another boaty.
Cheers everyone

Re: Thanks for the help.

I would have given up on my motor long ago if it were not for all you wonderful people that take time to help us who are clueless. I ran my motor yesterday after two years of problems and it really ran well. Without your support and great ideas it just would never have been fixed. Thanks

Re: Thanks for the help.

I've owned / operated 5 boats in my time. Each one is a new adventure. I just started out on this new adventure last winter. I asked about good boat forums for smaller boats on a full scale boat section of a popular RC site. (I fly RC planes thus my name Straightup) Several people there recommended iBoats. It's been great!! I also have made several purchases from iBoats.com and had great service. THIS IS A GREAT SITE!!!

Thanks from me too!

Jeff

Re: Thanks for the help.

i would like to post a quick note to thank the folks here that helped me get my 55 johnson running last season. I lurked on the board after buying it at a garage sale. Got enough confidence to tear into it and got it running after changing the impellar, rebuilding the carb. doing a link and sync and changing plugs. It still runs like a top, and get comments about it occasionally from folks about that old motor sure runs good. still have a low idle problem, but think that would clear up some maybe with a decarb. Anyway thanks a bunch for helping getting my old Johnson running.
