Re: The 2010 FrankenMerc Project

Got a call from the guy that bought my boat. He's wanting to sell the FrankenMerc. He said it's just way to much power and scares the hell out of him. Funny, I just thought it was an adrenaline rush...:D I'll bet he tried a hole shot with the motor trimmed up and stood it on the transom.. That gets your attention real quick.

Anyway he was offered 1500 on a trade in. The dealer said it looked like it might of had a problem at sometime... The dealer knows exactly what he's looking at and wants it for himself.

I called the dealer and asked him if he knew of any hot rod 2.0l Mercs for sale and he said he had one on a deal he was working and that I could problably get it for about 7500.00.

I called the guy that bought my boat and advised him to sell it on Craigslist with a starting price of 7500.00. I also told him to find a different dealer cuz he was getting ripped off.

Re: The 2010 FrankenMerc Project

Anybody that will give $7500 for a 2.0l is a fool, $1400 is going rate for trade-in of that year whether it be stock or lightly modified and dealer is a nutcase if he thinks he can get $7500 out of it. Heck you can buy bigger, better, cheaper just down the road.... 2005 RACING 250XS for $4000 and its a longshaft also..

What's the point. The only thing I can figure is you've got nothing better to do than berate others. Have a nice life.
I'm done with this.

the links show stock motors, for most people thats good enough,i dont think those people could appreciate the time effort and no how that goes into building a true performance motor.but to insult someone who forgot more last week than most will ever know,is completly uncalled for, some of us who appreciate every bit of knowledge shared will lose out because of peop;es ignorance.

First I will give him kudo's for his build. Well described and documented, especially for his FIRST V6 MERC/MARINER. I think tha problem is tha way it was represented. It was made ta seem as though this is tha WAY (as tha build progressed) to do it as an EXPERIENCED HOT ROD motor builder when in fact its tha first one tried. Orginally terminology/descriptions of a lot of things were totolly wrong which ended up in a little bantering between experienced and inexperienced V6 (Merc/Mariner) motor builders.

I might add, its not a HOT ROD motor. Its a well built 2.0 with a few bolt ons. Sure it turned out well but its still an unpainted 2.0 motor (probably why tha dealer thought he was gettin' a real prize). Given tha time and $ spent on this motor a true 300 drag motor could have been built. No mater. His choice!

Guess some are just gonna have ta agree ta dissagree and move on......JMO

JAN. Think this all started in tha ORIGINAL post that has been deleted.......
