Gross is right. Painting sucks... including boat painting!

I'm FINALLY getting around to painting the kitchen/living room area. It's been in primer for 2 1/2 years!

Last year, with the help of eaglejim and others from this board, I got the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms painted. That was fine by me... livin' all alone here in my man cave! But, Nancy dearest was firm about getting the painting finished once she moved in... and we're makin' good progress today. She loves the detail stuff that drives me crazy. Give me a roller and a long handle any day. :D

Just finished doing some spackling touchup. UGH. I'm no good at that stuff. LOL

My house has terrible drywall so any painting is preceded by major patching and priming. Ugh.

Sounds like we're all in the same boat, I never even finished putting up the molding or jam extensions. I was a mental midget when I built my house, all exterior walls are 2x6 but I bought 2x4 windows and doors:eek::redface:.

I keep telling the wife will do it all when I repaint, one room at a time. I finally got the 2nd floor done over last winter. I am having too much fun with the boats to even think about it this year LOL

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

We started getting chilly this evening after shutting down painting for the night and then having dinner. Didn't really notice it at first, because dinner had been cooking and a neighbor buddy came over.

But, after dinner and while watching the news... I started feeling a little cool, so I put on my sweatpants. Nancy was under a blanket with a cat on her lap.

About an hour later she came in here and said "did you know that the thermostat was set at FIFTY?" LMAO! Oops... guess I musta bumped it when I was working on that wall. We turned it back up to 78 degrees.

Heh heh.

Well it is that time of the year, Getting ready for winter BRRRRR
at least you can do indoor painting when it is snowing,
"if you don't mind the fumes"

HIJACK
So I finnally got the ditch witch out of the shop so I could throw a fresh coat of imron on the bucket trucks before we head out on the next project.
I had to do a rebuild on the trencher boom as that was a mess.

The plates for the center idler sprocket was ripped to crud as they had lost the idler sprocket in the dirt somewhere and had not replaced it
(the chain alittle messed up, but not to bad) here is the old one

P1000434.jpg

lots more work to do, but if I am going to push snow this winter, when I get back I better fix up the cab

Hey BWR,
At least you know the AC works well LOL

Hi RBH,
Long time no speak, hope all it good in your world. If you're going to push snow with that tractor might I suggest you start with a windshield ;)

HI BILL :)
Hows things.
Front and back windows gone, 3 of 6 other windows cracked (safety glass).
I wonder how lexan holds out over winter use (scraping ice off)
need to extend hoses to run a heater/defroster and find a electric windshield wiper motor and arm.
Still lots of work as I was saying.
But at least I will have a roof and sides around me when the snow comes a blowin.

HIJACK!!

Went hog hunting on Thursday at Tiger Island Outfitters in Cedar Key with my buddy Gary. We had an absolute ball! A great time with great people. Our guide Ken knew his stuff and the owner, Crichton Allen, is a super guy. Many thanks to them! I highly recommend Tiger Island Outfitters if you want to get some hogs and have a great time.

To sum up the experience? it was like a mini-safari!

Quite frankly, Gary and I had been expecting a pure ?put and take? approach for this hunt. That is, we figured that we?d be put into a blind near a feeder and just wait for pigs to come to the trough. But we were both VERY pleased that it turned out to be completely different. The experience greatly EXCEEDED our expectations! We found & followed animals with an electric golf cart, then got out and did the spot & stalk thing to bring ?em down. Instead of a Land Rover and warthogs, it was golf carts and feral pigs. Way cool!

There were some technical issues? like my eyeglasses breaking as soon as we arrived? and a couple of camea failures? but those minor irritations meant nothing in the end. I took down 2 pigs in the first 40 minutes, then we took a 1/2 hour break. Went back and within 20 minutes I had killed my 3rd pig and "tagged out" for the trip. Awesome! My first pig was a sow of about 55 pounds, the second was a 114 boar and the third was a 75 pound sow.

After completing our hunt, we went to Coconuts for a lobster dinner with a gorgeous sunset overlooking the Gulf. Very nice.

A few photos and a short video below ? there are plenty more.

We ended up with about 65 pounds of pork apiece!

ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!

I overcooked the tenderloins last night! Dry as a bone and hard as a rock at 160 degree internal temperature. Doggone it!

I have some ribs to cook up tonight... they're pretty small compared to domestic ribs. Any suggestions on a best approach to keep them fall-apart tender and moist?

DINNER!!

Cooked the ribs in the crockpot all day, then fired them off under the broiler to brown and crisp them.

Yummy!

Hey BWR...

Get yerself a pressure cooker if you dont have one..
20 mins in there with a quart of water, pepper, garlic, salt, sage (yes sage)
would have those ribs ready to finished off on the grill or broiler...

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

MAN have I missed a lot !!! :(
Guess that's what I get for turning into a recluse. I have been so wrapped up in my own Soap Opera lately, Sorry Guys

BWR, Hunting those Hogs looked like lots of fun!! Kevin is right about the pressure cooker makes a world of difference. I don't think I could live without mine, it makes the crock-pot look pathetic. One thing I found with a crock-pot is that you have to be real careful with the temp setting. even though it is submersed if the temp is too high it will come out dry.

I need your guys help

I have a Remington 742 woodsmaster semi-auto that I use for hunting. WELL I went to the range today, when I fired a round it will eject it & load in the next round but for some reason it is not setting the hammer for the firing pin  I had to eject a live round and load the next from the clip to fire again.

I can't figure out is my detent in the hammer is worn out or what.
Any thoughts???????
