Re: Thead Merger to Avoid "Hostile Takeover" ;D

Well, good Mawnin to ya, Mr Cycle. Looks like the group did not live up to your expectations. I didn't check the time of your post but It is nearly eight o'clock on the East Coast. Got up to take my Prostrate Pee and found your comment. I did a lot of searching and found some hilarious exchanges of politics and philosopy but really not to much of what I would call valuable information. Guess I just need to speak better, what is that computer term -beoulin- na, that ain't right - well you get the picture. I will be contacting a parts source to inquire as to what is available with regards to the pump. It is the weekend and all the "hired hands" are back at their day jobs. After tearing down the pump the impeller did look a bit tortured but otherwise pretty normal. Your comment was to a specific part of the thread so I am not sure you are fully aprised of the situation. Not going to take boat out this weekend, wouldn't be prudent. Summing up; engine runs in reverse and forward, cools as long as their is a forced source, pump not looking that good, water around spark plugs solved, not going to lake, wouldn't be prudent at this juncture.......<br />I will have to check the gremlins to make sure but was that a  you were giving me? Just for your edification, when I go out to lunch I always buy the first time....

No, no...no razzing here :) I probably lost the feel or apprisal of the thread being away for awhile. Glad to hear things are progressing. If I ever come to Calif., I'll let you pick the place in that case. :D

Promises Promises. By the way, have you noticed the gap is narrowing. Don't be a stranger.

Yes, the gap is narrowing. I need to take my inline 6 out today and see what will go wrong so I can get a thread going. :D <br /><br />The sad thing is that it has taken me 16 months to accumulate my post total. I need to get with it as others challenge. Since you quoted Satchel Paige, I'll offer one of his other classics that we've all heard:<br /><br />"Don't look back...someone may be gaining on you!"

As they say on OC: Well good luck with that.<br />Northern war of aggression? Did that come from the movie Stage Coach or was that quote exactly opposite. By the time you get back from your cruise you will be way behind. Are you in direct contact with CC I would like to spend some of my weekend minutes and talk with him p to p. (double entendre intended) :) It is evident that you are wise beyond your years, but just exactly what are you a student of and where are you getting your formal training?<br />Yes, I had heard that quote before, but I didn't know it was his. He came up with the age quote, even he didn't know how old he was, because someone ask him how he could still be pitching at his age. :D

I'm not sure where the quote came from re: what is commonly known as the Civil war. Stuff like that just finds fertile ground around here with all the northerners that move down and never leave. Another good one for you from an unidentified contemporary of the times: "South Carolina is too small to be a country and too large to be an insane asylum." I remember that from a history course in college. <br /><br />I'm not in direct contact with Clams. Chances are he may be traveling I'm guessing. <br /><br />I read a biography of Paige several years ago. He was a 48 year old rookie with the Cleveland Indians. Did you ever hear about him telling his outfielders to go sit down in the dugout while he was pitching during a game in the Negro Leagues? He proceeded to strike out the side. But he's not the one that said "It ain't braggin' if you can back it up." That was Dizzy Dean. Both of those guys should have owned an older outboard as it may have kept them humble. :D

Do you know the difference between tax evasion and tax avoidance? Ans: 5 to 10 years. I know you are not evading the question but you certainly have avoided answering it. What are you a student of and where are you getting (or where did you get) your formal training. "I ain't braggin', but the last time I made a mistake was when I thought I had made a mistake but I really hadn't."

I guess I'm going "down the river" then. :) Not sure how to exactly answer the question, but I'm just a "student" of learning "how to" evidenced by my need for this board. I find history and its lessons important - although I would never call myself a "student" of it in the strictest sense. Maybe "dabbler" or "observer" would be better. Not much in the way of formal training beyond 4 years of liberal arts that left me wholly unequipped to rebuild a Merc, start a business, or build a house. Mark Twain summed it up best when he said "I never let my education get in the way of my learning." :D

Now you are evading the question. You spent that four years somewhere. Did you finish a degree? <br />Not that it is any of my business:D Merc's are really the topic here. Sorry for digressing....

No problem - I'm sure it all ties together somewhere. I spent 4 years at the "other" USC and finished with a degree in History. I see you have passed me on the food chain with your post #s. Congratulations. :D :p

Now that definAtely is a razz. I have a little news on the 700E that is going to make some people happy. One spark plug port was stripping and the hired hands attempt to put in a helicoil resulted in more damage. Oh well, I know a very considerate machinist. ;) If he gets too snotty I can always go the even snottier vendor and he will let me beg him out of a head. :D

I doubt if Clams could/would turn a deaf ear to anything inline - he's the man! I'll bet he's momentarily occupied with a rebuild or something. I've been to his shop and seen him in action. He's in pretty high demand these days.. :) He'll resurface as Providence allows..<br /><br />Is that a "dockbuster" you have? If so, the book "Iron Fist: The Lives of Carl Kiekhaefer" will offer some good reading on the origins of the direct reverse concept. I think you would enjoy it as a good companion to that piece of history that you have there.. [/QB][/quote]<br /><br />I was on vacation to NH and then HORRIBLY backed up. What did I miss? Readers Digest version please. :) <br /><br />-W<br /><br /><br />-W

I realize to some people there is no life beyond this page, but as far as my boat is concerned I think this thread has all the news there is. Summing up: Pump not looking to good, head will at minimum need a machinists attention, Steering parts should arrive today from xxxxxxxxxxxcompany, not real popular with JB, not going to lake this Sunday, wuldn't be purdent at this juncture. A thousand points of light.....

Speaking of got it. The magic number of 75 has been reached 2cycle. If I read you right you are saying that you are a student of human nature. An admirable (root word admiral)study/ <br />Unfortunately, the boat is still not on the water, but I learned a great deal about human nature and man's inhumanity to man. Join me at the dock(dock side chat) and we can study together. "Don't fix that old heap, buy a new one"

Evidently this is a little different set up than that to which you allude. Pardon my correct English. Where you been keeping yourself. :D

He couldn't turn a deaf ear on anything inline, but he did indicate a hearing impairment where dockbusters were concerned. :D <br />Are you on vacation or have you decided to resign from the service? ;)
