Well maybe not all of them!

Definitely not the Pontoons your dad had.

I didn't want to push one brand or the other, so I mixed it up a bit. I also don't condone highspeed tooning. These videos were all shot on closed race course for scientific purposes. These are professionals, don't try this at home.

From what I understand, owner and an employee of one of these companies, flipped one in a highspeed turn. Hit a small wave. Both were not wearing a PFD's, and the employee drowned. :(

So I would think if you treated these as a line runners when at speed you would probably be OK on smooth water, but whitecaps, or hard turns should probably be taken at a pleasure pace.

Can't confirm, and don't have the time to check the source, so that remains a rumor.

But accidents happen all the time, and as I write this hundreds will die on the worlds highways, not setting speed records.

Re: Toons are ...

the first one was a square box, flat bottom toon, which make lifting much easier.

Yeah, that is why I included that one. I haven't seen toons like that since I was a kid.

Are they making a comeback?

What would be, in your experience, the advantages or disadvantages to them, other than better lift?

It would seem to me that it would add an extra danger of digging in during high speed turns, thereby increasing the likelihood of flipping.

Not a rumor. They were test driving a new pontoon. Unfortunately, the Lake Sun Leader archive no longer has the report.

Thanks OldePharte.

I don't like to post things like that, that I can't confirm.

I did later check, but all I came up with, were dead links to the news sources, where it was once posted.

There was also the chance that the person that told me, who is in the industry, would have a vested interest in making one manufactures product, look less desirable than another's.
