So,... a speck, of What,..??

This seems to be movin' to a thread, Explainin' user names, rather than Don's original question,....

Myself,... Bill Bond,.... I've been Bondo to my close friends, 'n cohorts since jr. high school...

I've been accused of bein' an automotive bodyman, but even though I've done a pile of it, it ain't anything I like,...

I'm just a plain ole Mechanic,... Autos, trucks, heavy equipment, 'n of course,... Boats....

lncoop stands for Luke Nelson Coop (boring, I know:sleeping:). Over the years everyone has taken the lower case l to be an upper case I. My nickname is Deuce (as in little Deuce Coupe), but when I posted my first question several years ago I had no idea I'd stick around, so I didn't give much thought to my handle. Too late to change it now unless I need to go underground, which could be any time the way it goes around here.

"Use the force, Luke"............:laser: Yep, always thought you were "I"ncoop.........

All this time I thought it was an abbreviation for nincompoop! :whoo::bolt:

Good one.....
Or, would it be nincomcoop??????

Mine's a combination of my first name, my wife's first name... and a severe lack of imagination. I did a little better naming the boat.

Re: Usernames....... the weird ones

Mine was a mistake when I first signed up and there is no way to change it.
I always thought 1235 was kinda funny. You should take credit for it . . .

Mine is a stupid long story. First forum I ever joined was at NASCAR. Never thought about a username before, and needed one. My favorite driver is/was Ward Burton and he was driving the CAT car (my career background) and he was kind of a quiet guy, so I picked Quietcat. I never liked it so I changed it to QC some years ago as people here were referring to me as QC in posts. Now sometimes I think people assume it means Quality Control and combined with the Mod gig seems kind of arrogant . . . Oh well

Re: Usernames....... the weird ones

Mine was a mistake from years ago. From the first web forum I joined ( Club Hotrod ) I typed my name and some random numbers because the registration would not pick up what I wanted. It's sort of stuck, given that when I got a 1967 Falcon a few years later, I joined a few more forums with the same user name

I've heard that story before. Funny how his brother now drives the CAT car...... Don't forget, Ward sounds the way he does because he grew up in the south side of the house. At least according to Jeff.........;)

ps. A buddy of mine retired from CAT too.......

"South" 'cuz we're the only portion of the entire family not living north of the Mason-Dixon, and "Kogs" is a shortened version of the last name.

Now I need to come up with a signature phrase like "ayuh..."

Insteada is the boat name. We came up with it because insteada having money, we wanted a boat. Insteada having kids, we bought a boat. So on and so forth. Fun thread.

Re: Usernames....... the weird ones

My name is Brian, I was born 1970, during a drinking game in the late 1980s, a buddy made a rule, I think after the 3rd quarter in a row:D that we had to use only the nicknames or chug a beer:joyous: afterwards the name stuck, so my friends call me Coolbri, or sometimes just Cool:cool: View attachment 179211 a pic he sent me recently of some grafitti from said evening

Re: Usernames....... the weird ones

Mine is a combo of the state in which I live and a nickname (based on Bob) a coworker used to call me. I first started using it in the Car Talk forum (was one of their leading posters until they mucked up the forum software).

Re: Usernames....... the weird ones

Well Don if it includes me. I can honestly say you are one of the most respected members of this site and someone I owe tons too for your knowledge. Mine is the name of my boat which I named after my little girl's nick name as a toddler. And my sir name is Richard, Richard Kimble but some of the guys just use FF which is fine by me.

some people use FF as the name has a diffrent meaning in the uk and other places

i didnt know that box was the account name i just thought it was just part of the sign on password so i wanted something i didnt forget so maybe someone else got confussed and named them selfs after that stupied box that you can not read that is required to prove that you are not a computer when making accounts. (the blurry one that you have to copy the letters and numbers from)

Re: Usernames....... the weird ones

Ok, I can get a handle on most usernames where they have your name in them, type of boat, a bit of a saying, etc. But some usernames just don't seem to have any rhyme or reason behind the jumble of letters and numbers.

For example (Not making fun of your name, just showed up at the right/wrong time in the online list) spegtoast what is a speg and why is it toast? See what I mean?

Your reason may make perfect sense to you and even the rest of us if we knew what it meant.

So those with the really weird looking usernames, Why? What does it mean? and what do we call your a first name?

The man likes his spaghetti with toast but he thinks spaghetti is spelled speghetti??
I wonder if it's my ole man...he loves garlic toast with his spaghetti.

Nothing really fancy here...

"Brian" - first name
"GCC" - Grove City College PA, 1997 grad

I normally go by "brian c" elsewhere but I think it was taken here when I signed up.
