Rodbolt, The arabs command and control systems are not even on par by WW2 standards, the hardware are merely eye candy and toys, the only use which they may ever get would most likely be against their own people.<br /><br />Some of all of that oil revenue needs to return into the American economy and not to Europe, China or Russia.

The operator of the ports would hardly be any different than say a mining company. Safety and security is a cost to the bottom line that is easily cut.<br />It was suggested that security at those ports won't be handled by Dubai Ports. Yet the suggestion was made it's only capitalism at work.<br />This is a huge(foreign)capital investment so they will have some say in security.<br /><br />No interest to secure the borders and none to secure the ports. The time between the first attack on the WTC and the second was 10 years. We might as well make plans for another memorial, have it all drawn up and approved in advance. We'll need it in another 4-5 years.

Lot of misimformation being thrown around here. We are NOT selling the ports. The Dubai company will NOT own the ports. They will NOT control security. The US Coast Guard does the security now and will continue to do so.

Kwas<br /> thats what I have said all along, the UAE will just be an administrator. however as an administration they will have acess to the type of equipment used and the methods used to insure security and the inspection protocols, thats where it gets sticky, if I know what equipment and procedures are used I most likly could figgure out how to package it to beat the system.<br /> can all the personell in the UAE company be trusted not to allow any security methodology to "slip" to the other side? <br /> if even a secretary or a janitor decides to sell the info to pay for gambling debts or kids education we will be compremised.

Three of the Arab Emirates recognize Israel and the need to keep it secure. Doesn’t mean they like the idea of their neighbor’s land being stolen, but they go along with it and support it.<br /><br />Fwiw, Dubai is a very westernized Emirate. They have the mindset of a presumption the oil will run out soon and they will need to stand on their own two feet, and secure relations with the west is the only way to make ensure their future existence. They aren’t about to rock the boat regarding Israel.<br /><br />Isreal's right to exist?!?!? Now there is something both sides can legitimately argue without ever reaching an intelligent conclusion.

Our only hope on the F-16's is W wrote the plans for training in them. That way there will be no pilots showing up.<br /><br />W is a complete idiot and the port situation only reconfirms it. Only competitor for stupid of the year is Rush.<br /><br />If our country last long enough to elect new president, I pity him for the mess he is left.
