Meh, if I had a tinny, I'd be on the water already...where's the fun in that?! Aren't hot rods supposed to take 10 years to complete?:D

LOL Ok Red you got a point there I have had my 63 F100 for about 4 years and havent done anything yet but collect parts :D.

funny, I have a 78 F150 4x4 with a 460 in it that is slated for resto right after the boat is done! It needs the full monty, enough to make transom, stringers and deck look like a vacation to ditney land!

How you gonna feed that 460? I'm partial to the 300 straight-six...solid 18 mpg, no matter the year model...if kept in tune. Did you ever have that 460 at WOT? Scary thought on the twin I-beam suspension.

Thanks, guys. It's just a 45hp. Shouldn't be too heavy. The rack shouldn't be to difficult to build,I think I might just have enough lumber around. And I do have an engine hoist.

It's nice that you guys have so many pics. but what I really like are videos. Do we have that on here. I saw a lot of them on youtube, under fiberglass boat repair. Stayed up late watching them.

I think you are thinking of a later model. My truck is a tank, and was offered with the 460 even in the half ton. Also, the suspendion is solid axles with coils in front and leafs in rear. Front dana 44 rear 9". It is more than stout for a half ton...Oh and WOT for a stock 460 is very unimpressive trust me. I believe is is rated at 190hp;) Not for long! I plan to do a similar build to what the horsepower TV did with their budget big block. Not because I want it to be cheap but my god they got 390hp and over 500 ft/lbs at 2000$ and it remains streetable as stock. Nothing crazy, all I want it tourque as I pull my Jeep and boat with it. I may do a 3/4 ton swap on it, go to a full floating dana 60 in the rear with heavier leafs and box the frame so that I can use it for my truck camper as well.

And then you can drive it from gas station to gas station. Yeah I wouldn't imagine the original 460 being that impressive at WOT, but with a powerplant like that the sky's the limit. Plus those types of engines are most impressive with the low end torque. You might do it fast but you can pull a house off it's foundation with it....

Well, just as a quick update the transom is cut, sanded and "stained." The two pieces of wood that mount to the outside of the transom skin have their first coat of exterior latex on them. I was looking forward to doing some installing this weekend, but surprise, surprise New York is getting more rain this weekend! I need a freakin' workshop!

Stained? Do you mean resin coated?

No, I used an exterior stain by Behr. It has a 10 year guarantee on decks so I figure it oughta hold up pretty well on a transom for 4-5 years.

Thats what I used on my floor too. Wish I would have read, or found, this sight beforehand. Not sure if resin will stick to the stain.
OO..Gunner, I started on my transom again yesterday. Ah, your choice of words are on the mark. I finally tried Andy,s idea but didn,t work. So I went with Jones idea but used my gas saw. All was working well till it stalled. Don,t beleive the old saying"the older you get the wiser". As I went to restart it ,the saw kicked back and my hand slipped off the rope. I can not move my hand this morning and thinking of going to the ER.
