Re: What Branch of the Service did you serve in and when

After a Mod Squad review and consensus, I have once again purged this thread of off topic, hostility and responses to the deleted material.

Some of the language and personal attacks here were disgraceful and repeats will not be tolerated.

Re: What Branch of the Service did you serve in and when

Thread Hijack,

I have not served in the US military but that was not what this thread requested.

I am proudly an officer in the South African Infantry. Foot soldiers you may understand. I have risen to the rank of Captain and have a love for the tradition and rules that go with combat and camp life.

I have done special ops and made a bunch of cash. Have faught in Namibia, Zimbabwe, Angola and South Africa. I have watched men die and have been in fear of my own life. I have considered the price of being a mercenary, firm offer on the table, BIG BUCKS. Were it not for marriage I would be a "dog of war" for which I am ashamed. Youth and the attraction of money is a disgusting attribute.

I managed to escape, barely.

Cheers
Andrew

Navy 68 - 72
Trained as a radial aircraft mech but worked ground support towing airplanes around in Corpus Christi, Texas for over 3 years! Good place to be, especially during that time frame! We were however one of the first lines of defense if Mexico would have attacked.

We?ve had several new members that joined here lately that are service connected, thought it would be a good idea to bump this up so they could get a handle on where were coming from. Hope the Mods don?t mind.

Ha Ha...What was even better was as soon as you were out of the turtle farm you invariably yelled through the fench, calling the new meat "turtles", even though you had just went to your unit the day before. At least thats what I did... :)

Ahhh....Dragon Club number 1! I may or may not have down my share of embalming fluid during my stint there, and we won't discuss the ladies... :)

Then of course there was the Silver Star Outlaw club. That was where the more country oriented guys went. I did have a female GI drag me in there and teach me to line dance, what a guy does for action... :)

I was there from mid 93 to mid 94...It was a real joy.

Camp Casey and the lovely TDC...

1/72, was that the one in Dragon Hill or was that 2/72?
I was in Sevon Oh Deuece both times, (702 MSB), just down the hill and around the corner from the fire department. 83/84 and 88/89.

In those days the Montana club was the country bar, 702d owned Cheers in those days. Ever have a kettle? I was once told I did, but I have no recollection of the alleged event.

Once in a while we'd go hang out at Camp Hovey and the nasty litle 'ville out there, what was it's name? Toko Ri?
