I have done a lot of fresh and saltwater fly fishing around the country and in Canada. So, I decided on "Fly Rod" as my user name.

JD...my initials, RET....I'm retired, well semi-retired from the Army 10 years ago. A master sergeants retirement pay doesn't go far, especially when you want to play with boats.

Well, my CB handle for truck driving was King Hunter. My favorite truck is the VN780 by Volvo Trucks North America= KH780. Also, my first name is Hunter and middle name is King.

The first part tells where I live, in Australia. The second part, "Bunyip" is the name of an animal that the Aust. Aboriginees describe as a big creature that lives in billabongs and rivers. It is suposedly extinct or mythical but bunyips actualy do exist in the far reaches of wild Australia. I chose the name 'cos it would probably stand out as something different.

Was fishing offshore several years ago on an 18' center console....5' seas...catching sailfish among some big boy sportfish during a tournament. Over the radio we heard other captains commenting about how crazy we were to be out there in those conditions. One captain said I was sick (as in the head) to be out there. SomeAreSickerThanOthers stuck with the boat at the dock.

We placed 3rd..16 sails over 3 days. We were bruised up pretty bad...but I gained respect among the captains here and eventually became one of them.

My name is taken off of my last boat. cant even remember y i named it that. something to do with the one before being named lil2much and giving too much trouble
Its also my new concept to life. fussing dont fix it so y fuss. moved up from an 18 foot to a 29foot and friends said now i have something to fuss about. I took that as a hint and reminded them that this was nothing to fuss about either so i caried over the name and put the word still in small letters just before it. still NO FUSS.
I think its that concept that helped me to survive the last year without a job, and having the new boat but not able to get it working properly because of finances. some people would have gone mad.

Mine is because I live in Fernandina Beach, Pirates have major folklore around here, plus Pirates are the mascot of my high school where I graduated in '95. Since I got into boating I figured referencing Pirates and the location of the waterways I run in would be good for a handle.

My story is pretty stupid, and I guess I never told it in this particular thread. The first forum I ever joined was on Nascar.com . . . needed a name . . . favorite driver was Ward Burton who at the time was driving the Caterpillar car, and I have a Cat(erpillar) background. He is/was kind of a quiet guy and forums are silent, so I came up with Quietcat.

Anyway, to make this stupid story complete, there was a name changing revolt/incident here a while back, and many of us were changing our f_nscreenames as a gag to razz a departed (he's not dead) member named Techno_______ (fill in the blank). Well I can't remember what I changed mine to, but I lost the ability to go back to Quietcat, and since I always thought it was a stupid name to begin with, I switched to simply QC. So, there it is.

My first boat (here in Fl) was a 200 dollar IMP Aztec.
It was CHEAP..So there you have it CheapboatKev...

Commonly abbreviated here by my friends as simply CBK

Mine was created by an e-mail adress generator at the university I attend.

It's a combination of my first innitial and about half of my last name (ends in ski) so I use it for everything in the electronic world.

Ocasionaly I wonder what people think when they seee it

I put the "T" in my signature to lessen the confusion as to what to call me.

Mine all started in junior high, much like tswiczko's story. My name is Matthew Ables and one day I was really agging on the teacher and she tried to yell at me with my full name but what came out has stuck ever since, mables which was also my college un and anytime someone sees it on paper they're like oh mables. It used to bother me when I was younger but I just go with it now I know a lot of other matt's so it makes it easier to distinguish amongst us.
