I have never received an email from iboats forum.

I understand, and many have reported that for a long time. In this instance I was trying to help with the list of subscribed threads to mimic "My Replies" . . .

I was also going to ask why the My Replies are gone..

I Not only liked it..but that feature was very helpfull to me ( Cough..Im into alot of threads and would like to keep track of them ).

So at first I was distressed ..and kinda like what the heck ? .. why oh why did Iboats do this ???

However now..reading this thread on how to basically do the same thing with just another Bookmark..Its no Biggie..

Actually..Some of the options now available to me with the "UserCP" ( they could have been there all the time..and the My Replies was kinda redundant I cant say for sure as I never used the "UserCP" ) Is kinda nice.

I allways opened the MyReps in an other window anyways..but the options with UserCP I never used .. Im thinking I kinda like it this way to be honest..

No reason to bring back the MyReplies IMO..its just in a different location with more options.

Good going IBOATS/MODS/Admins/ITguys.. ! bring this puppy up to date with our smart phones and such.. .

Basically saying Iboaters.. Its new..but its better IMHO.. If you want to open Iboats with MyReplies ..just have your booky on the UserCP screen. Refreash as needed ( I did this tonight and works Great ).

iboats controls the forum and the moderator's are in the same exact situation as everyone else. When a change appears, we find out the same time everyone else does.

Yes, we have mentioned and suggested smartphone configuration would be nice.

I have been posting from my smartphones for the last 2 years...works fine on the Palm and now the Droid X.

I think new members will not have any idea about the my replies feature or the search your own name version of the same thing.

Because of this the I-boats experience has been downgraded with this software upgrade.

Let me point out that I am NOT someone who hates to see change and would be to stuck in my ways to see a change for the better.

The only advantage I can see to this is maybe less demand on the servers from constantly processing my replies searches.

P.S. since the upgrade the only updated threads I ever see are the TD thread and threads complaining about the upgrade. I feel that this upgrade has already killed the flow of posting around here.

this trucking forum lost the "my replies" too.
they use the same forum engine at iboats.

it seems to be the company that makes the forum set-up that iboats uses.

Unfortunately that only works for a few minutes as the search ID goes stale after awhile. The advanced search looking for my screen name is what I am using right now.

I'm tellin ya, "subscriptions" works all day every day, email updates and everything. Using that set up is easier than falling out of bed in the mornin.

In an effort to make this thread productive I have a very simple question.

Can you contact someone from I-boats IT and find out if My Replies is still an option with the upgraded software?

If it is then the next logical question would be Is it going to be brought back?

If you could get us answers it would be a whole lot better than us sitting in a dark room complaining about how dark it is.

OK . . . we are talking with them, but we are there to keep the heat off of iboats while they run their commercial business. Computer Geek time is very precious to them and we haven't got the attention on this matter just yet. In the meantime I encourage all of you to go back to the start of this thread and read my posts. I am having absolutely no issues whatsoever with my method which requires two (2)clicks. Here is a pic of the area in my Control Panel that appears to matter:

I know it seems counter intuitive to use "NO" email notification, but I believe it is significant . . . Again reread my posts in this thread. I believe posts # 22 and 34 are the most relevant.

QC, I realize that you folks are just the messengers (and Volunteer messengers, for that matter!), but I hope that iBoats looks on these forums as REVENUE generators and not OVERHEAD. Without the forum, I'd have never known of, or purchased from, iBoats.

These forum software packages must be really quirky, and I'm betting the IT guys at iBoats dislike messing with them...I'm a member of many other "hobby" forums...and have seen much pain associated with upgrades. The only time I've seen vBulletin get upgraded without these kind of errors is when the Mods were at the wheel, and had a LOT of specific experiance with the software package.

The email notifications thing is big to new users (new CUSTOMERS, ahem...) because it engages the guy with two or three posts to come back and become a member of the community. Just my .02.
