OK . . . we are talking with them, but we are there to keep the heat off of iboats while they run their commercial business. Computer Geek time is very precious to them and we haven't got the attention on this matter just yet. In the meantime I encourage all of you to go back to the start of this thread and read my posts. I am having absolutely no issues whatsoever with my method which requires two (2)clicks. Here is a pic of the area in my Control Panel that appears to matter:

attachment.php

I know it seems counter intuitive to use "NO" email notification, but I believe it is significant . . . ;) Again reread my posts in this thread. I believe posts # 22 and 34 are the most relevant.

OK....time to turn in my pitchfork and torch...:D:eek:;)

Great graphic, it worked perfectly, and is so close to the functionality of "My Replies" (better actually) that IMO this is not an issue any longer , thanks.

Re: What happenend to the "My Replies"

Who is double clicking what for the myreply thingy ?

This is how I do it.. I open my bookmarked Iforums..Log in ( with Remember Me option checked when loggin in ). Then I open a seperate bookmark with Iboat Subcriptions ( shows Every myreply (subscriptions Im thinking is Every post I started or replied to..ALL of them )).

I can now switch between the 2 pages in a flash and reload both pages as needed ( sometimes I DONT want to reload the main forum page just because I just posted and keep that page as I first logged in..hope this makes sence.. )

Normally I would reply to my postings (answers) First..then go back to the the open forum to answer the most recent questions ( not those that have 5 thousand lookies and 1k replies..those can wait as they Will find there post somehow and reply ) to not flood the first page with those that have been here for a bit and knows how to "work" the posts.

Then again..im an Answer..not a Question..

The "myreplies" flamers out there...Its Only ONE more step to get to what you want ( not really if you follow the directions herein ) I dont know..you just want to See it up there..click refreash..and quick post back without having to clicky/refreash on another window with Subcriptions ? Its the same thing lol..

Im useing FFox with Mouse Gestures...quick and EZ to switch/reload/load new etc..

I see No problem with the current update..NONE..

No dis to anyone.. ( I have had a few adult drinks..so thats my excuse for sounding clear/or blurred here ;) ).

There are some sites where I have 10s of thousands of posts going back nearly 12 years. I'm a noob to boat repair, but not to internet forums. I was already doing the search all posts by user work around when I found this thread. I did not understand a word you just said. Seriously, and I'm pretty much a power user. I'm thinking the no posting while drinking rule applies here.

Same here. Viewing subscriptions does nothing for me unless I'm doing something else wrong.

I found your option page after some digging. I do not prefer to subscribe to every thread, but with the no email option selected that might be the only work around. Not convinced it's the same thing but perhaps it's close enough. I can't find the "My Subscriptions" button either. Also all the old replies are gone.

Now if the guy that still has the old tab open can right click "My Replies" and copy the URL location and posts it here, I could drop it into my home page and it would always be there.

Sorry, My Firefox crashed and gave me the "Well this is embarrassing..." message. It then reloaded all of my old tabs, so that old open tab no longer has the my replies option.

Re: What happenend to the "My Replies"

iboats controls the forum and the moderator's are in the same exact situation as everyone else. When a change appears, we find out the same time everyone else does.

Yes, we have mentioned and suggested smartphone configuration would be nice.

You should suggest to the iboats staff "tapatalk". It is a smartphone app. for forum's...it is as easy as iboats signning up for it. No fuss No muss, I have it downloaded on my smart phone, and there are many forums I'm on that have tapatalk, and they are a breeze to navigate through......AND THE BEST PART IS THE TAPATALK HAS THE OPTION TO VIEW ALL YOUR REPLIES, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE SITE'S OPTIONS ARE!!!:D

I am probably grumpier, crankier, and more resistant to change than you are...but I read QC's instructions (finally), then made the change, and am now embarrassed that it took me so long.

If I can "go to the light" , there is certainly hope for you. ;)

You are not subscribing to every thread....just the ones that you replied to....same as "My replies"

IMO the biggest difference (improvement) is that you can delete any thread that you have replied (subscribed) to....if it is no longer of interest. You couldn't do that before.

Super easy and super convenient huh!:D

See guys, Tim made the change! Now he is smarter, faster, and better looking too!

I have no interest in laying down my pitchfork and torch, way too much fun to carry it around. But, I am telling ya fellas, there are bigger fish to fry out there, eh!

Re: What happenend to the "My Replies"

To subscribe to a thread Use the Thread Tools Tab, 3rd option. When you open a thread it is the 2nd tab from the left, just above the 1st posting.

I have not tried it yet but it is my next step.

It took me 10 years to buy a DVD player after they were introduced, I just bought my 1st LCD TV on black friday, got my 1st smart phone last week, a blackberry, Now I know how to subscribe to a thread. I'm slowing working my way up the tech. food chain.

EDIT: IT WORKED:eek: If a technophobe like me can do it, almost anyone can;):D

I use it too. Good app but the forum has to be available to it. I'd actually rather view the forums there.

I agree.... Its much easier to navigate around forums.

I just wish iboats would sign up for it.

Re: What happenend to the "My Replies"

I had an old tab left open that still has the my replies option on it. If I double click that my replies (to open in a new tab) it still works, so I know that my replies still works, it just isn't there.

How many years can I leave that old tab open for just to have a "My Replies" option?

So it's a problem to not have that one little line of html when the functionality is still there?

To me, I thought the "my replies" was the handiest function imaginable. Unless microsoft bought:eek: vbulletin, I cannot even fathom why anyone would down-enable a function that costs nothing extra to run. Bad move.

Re: What happenend to the "My Replies"

"Subscribing" works... But it still is a down-function of the forum. I have subscribed to some threads (and gotten email notification) on stuff that is current or important to me. But I don't want to subscribe to every thread I post in and have it email me. So it makes several steps out of what was one click...

I used the "my replies" function as a main navigation tool- it has been useful to look at it and check out an old thread that had a new posting.

Granted, I pay nothing for this forum, but as far as my enjoyment and use, I am confused as to why a programmer would even consider removing it. It costs nothing extra to the users, licensee, or developers once the subroutine is in place.

I guess this has got some attention but I don't like change that costs me time or aggravation. But I should cease my complainin' now.

Normally I would agree with you on this but not in this case. If it is a feature it should be able to be put back. If it is not a feature I don't really care how valuable the IT guys time is, they need to let us know what is going on.

Complain on I-boaters. We have a valid gripe that has not been addressed by the people who can control this issue.

I do appreciate the mods (QC) input into this issue. I'm not trying to bash you. I have been using the workaround searching your own name method and getting by. But to me it feels like my old car that I had to give a speech about all the things you can't do before I could let someone else drive it.

"You can only open the drivers door from the outside so you have to put the window down and open the door from the outside to get out... but don't put the window down all the way or it won't go back up."

Same thing with the work arounds, "you have to go to the advanced search and then enter your own user name in the search for user field... or you can subscribe to every thread you look at, but make sure you turn e-mail notification off or you will get 20 emails a day."
