Re: WHAT IS YOUR TOW VEHICLE

I use a Chrysler Town and Country for the most part, in the works of making a 1987 Ford Ranger with a 302 for towing. Its dragging a MonArk 17' flat bottom.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR TOW VEHICLE

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 V-8 4X4.

Low range 4X4 on the boat ramp.

Boat is a Wellcraft 228 Sportsman WAC with a 225 Evinrude.

My buddy brought the boat home the other day with his '04 F-150 2WD crew cab...plenty of power.

( But I prefer a 4WD with low range selectability, suprizes at the end of the day can ruin an otherwise great boating experience)

Re: WHAT IS YOUR TOW VEHICLE

Best tow vehicle I ever had just got totalled! Bummer.

2003 GMC Safari midi-van. (Like a Chevy Astro but better built, I think, judging from various reviews.) Built on a light truck chassis, RWD, but more weight over rear wheels than a pickup. Seats 8! Because this design is an old one (1985?) we got ours, brand new, fully luxury loaded for $21,500 plus Tax & License in '03.

This van can tow 4000lbs. It pulled our 15'trihull (2500lbs) with no brakes and you couldn't even feel it behind you. Here in CA where tow vehicles can only go 55mph (yeah, right!) we could get 19mpg while towing on a level freeway!

Alas, my wife got broadsided by a Honda Accord pulling out of a driveway. She was going 25mph, he was going, what, 5mph? Smashed in the sliding door. The body shop pulled off some moulding, took one look, and said "Minimum $10,000". Insurance company said "Totalled". Makes me want to cry!

Re: WHAT IS YOUR TOW VEHICLE

A five year old post, but any how. We pull a 2006 LARSON 204 Escape deck boat, with a I/O unit, with a 2001 5.4 XLT FORD Super Crew 4 X 4. with 3:55 gears. The boat weighs 3,100 #'s. We have used the 4 X 4 once or twice, "just as a precaution" coming off of the ramp because of the slime.

Truck handles everything well. My wife has a 2002 F-150 4 X 4 King Ranch with 3:55 gears limited slip, and tow package.

Both trucks hanlde the LARSON with ease. AND, if we ever needed it, the 4 X 4 is there !!!!!!!!

Re: WHAT IS YOUR TOW VEHICLE

Here is my recent tow upgrade. The truck is 2500 Silverado with the Duromax-Diesel/Allison drivetrain. It doesn't seem to have any issues towing the boat....if anything I suppose its serious overkill.
Very nice vehicle all in all....but I'm not loving the fuel mileage around town.
All Good.

I don't really have one lol.. i have a jeep cherokee that im trying to get rid of.. but one of my dads buddys said he would help launch it the first couple times.. and one of my close friends loves to tow things.. hes got about the same truck as AJ.. so he said he would pull it when i need it.. he runs his own business so always has time

Planning on pulling the '08 sea ray 205 with an '04 Nissan Armada...rated for 9000 lbs.

We have the "off road" edition. I believe it is enough truck, but still nervous lol

dont sweat it...thats a monster SUV. I pull my '06 220 Select with a Z71 Tahoe (4.10 rear axle) and its fine. Never even slipped on these steep TX hill country ramps.

Shouldn't even notice it's there... for the Nissan, even the 22' behind the Z71 shouldn't even sweat it. Vehicles can move around a lot of weight. I have towed 4500-5000 behind a '91 4.3 Blazer, same load behind my Grand Cherokee LTD, probably 7000 behind my dads F150, an old '78 Chevy 2500. The tow limit is there for a reason, but with the right saftey stuff and a smart driver I would have NO worries towing right at that limit, even somewhat over it in small trips.

Definite Overkill??

Definite Overkill??

Felt like this was a good opportunity to contribute to a non-controversial thread (????). Anyway, tow vehicle is a 2007 Classic Chevy Silverado 3500 D/A Crew Cab Dually LT3 4WD. It is, as others have mentioned a little on the overkill, but the other thing it tows is a 2007 Montana 3400RL fifth-wheel that weighs in at around 14,000 give or take a couple of pounds. When trailering we are lugging around a 2007 Bayliner 245 Cruiser (see signature for my take on the boat) that totals about 8500 on the trailer.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR TOW VEHICLE

I'm towing a 15' Key West CC with a 2003 Toyota Highlander 2WD V6 Automatic. I have a Drawtite class 2 hitch. It seems to work fine. I recently had the tongue extended 2 ft which makes it easier to manuver and not have to back up in the water. :)

Re: WHAT IS YOUR TOW VEHICLE

I have been pulling my Bayliner 1810 with my 2004 Explorer for the past 3 years. Unless the boat is on the trailer hitch or the dog kennels are in the back of it, the Explorer just sits in the driveway, wondering what it did wrong
