Boxter, hands down.
Mustang.
Cheap, easy to upgrade, etc.
I would suggest 2004 and up. The new body is much better than the old "Fox".
They havent made the Fox body since 93.
Wrong. Fox disappeared in 2003.
Nothing about "Boxter" equates to "economy and maintenance". Other than filling someone else's pockets.
The Subaru guys will jump in here, any minute. I'm sorry, a souped up Suby just sounds like a six cylinder with a couple spark plugs wires unhooked.![]()
I could just do a google search and come up with about a thousands referances. I think they may have called the 94-98 a Fox4, but for the most part, what people call the Fox body is the 79-93.
I am sorry, there is just something that clashes when you say, sports car and economy in the same sentence! handling fits, but maintenance? come on! When you talk real sports cars, you put twice as much maintenance into them, than you ever do driving them, economy, make sure and have a map with the least expensive stations along your planned route!
Hm, kind of reminds of of our passion...Boats!
LOL
If I was actually in the market for the most bang for the buck, I would have to say one of the RX series Mazda's or one of their Miata's, both great cars, not expensive, not hard to maintain, but the RX does not classify itself in the economy arena, but the Miata is not that bad..
I disagree. I have owned several LS based cars, from Corvettes to Camaros to Firebirds. Extremely reliable, good gas mileage(upwards of 30mpg), fairly low maintanance and handle pretty decent. I have had several with over 150k on the clock with little to no major work. Just oil changes and the easy stuff.
