Re: What Type of Engine Do I Really Have?
OK. I am REALLY getting frustrated with this. I have tried three places that sell parts, never could get through to the folks who answer OMC's phone these days, and the good folks at Bayliner aren't even sure.
Here's what I have learned:
The boat is an 88 Capri Cuddy 1952 CK I/O (OR a 1950 - the folks at Bayliner are not really sure...even with the Hull ID #).
It's an OMC engine. Has a great big OMC on the side of it.
There was a model number on a plate on the outdrive that had Model # 985288 listed on it. However, when you try to search for that number ANYWHERE it comes up blank. I did, however, run across one forum post here that had that "cross-listed" with a 985966. When I look for THAT part, I get all kinds of things.
So - I thought I was ready to order parts so I called iboats for help. The first question THEY asked was about horsepower. HORSEPOWER??? The gal at Bayliner said something about maybe 125, but wasn't sure. Well, 125 is not an option, according to iboats. There are 120's and 140's.
Can somebody PLEASE help me. This whole thing, by the way, is because I am trying to find a starter... I have a picture of that part of the motor if it helps at all. Please know that to get to the boat is 45 minutes each way - and I'm working on 3 days in a row now...
