Whats with the time limit?

Hey moderators, what is with the time limit on replys, we dont have time to put in more than a few lines. Some of us are 2 finger typers . thats twice I have been logged out and lost my painfully composed reply.

Not supposed to happen, Dan. With the update of the software several glitches have shown up, then gone away.

Seems you are the only one this is happening to, Dan. Must be in your 'puter or your technique.

If you do not click the "Remember Me" when you log in, after 15 minutes of inactivity (not changing pages) the forum will log you off automatically.

For quite a while during my first few months as a member of iboats, I wasn't aware of this. I had the same problem. Someone else started a thread about it and if I'm not mistaken, I believe Bondo was the first, or at least one of the first to respond, just as he is now. Made perfect sense to my non computer saavy self. I never had the problem again.

I had never posted about it, but I was still having the problem. I doubt that I was the only other one with the problem back then, and I doubt your the only one with the problem now. The "Remember Me" button is below the username box on the left.

^^^^ same with me....but my interim work-around was that if I got logged out, I could still back up a page or two and my post was then accessible...and i could cut ....login again....and paste.....then post.

same thing happens to me, i type with one finger, sometimes two, by the time i finish my post, im logged out, and my time typing is lost. maybe i need a course on keyboarding, but i see some members can write a whole page!? and i did click "remember me" many months ago.
no big deal, just annoying.

Yeah Don, like dingbat, I no longer have a Remember Me box available.

About 4:00 pm today I sent an email through the Contact Us link with detail on when it started and what I did to troubleshoot. If you guys didn't get it, let me know and I'll send it again or post it here. I originally sent it on the puter that's having the Remember Me problem so who knows what's happening there.

I'm currently on my laptop with IE8 which DOES have the Rem Me box. IE7 on the old puter. dinger also has IE7 so I'm wondering if the problem lies there.

Briefly, both of us do not have a Remember Me box and (me at least) do not have a dropdown below Notifications showing the Inbox.

Just logged on,I dont have a "remember me" box either,used to be there, dont know when it dissapeared.

He's not the only one - its been happening to me too. I've also seen this before and its been corrected before. In the mean time, my suggestion to the Op, is to highlight and save the text in his replies to clipboard, before clicking on the "reply" button. If he loses the post, he can then log on again, paste the text in a new reply and submit it.

Forgot to mention a quick workaround. Log in with a bogus (or no) password. This will take you to the invalid login page where you WILL find a Remember Me box and you'll be good to go.

Greetings all, well its back, must have been a glitch, I will use the remember me from now on, thanks for the help. Don, I use Google and Internet Explorer, seems to have worked so far.

Just to follow up, I still don't have a remember me box. In addition, if I click on anything in the marine store, IE7 shuts down. I first noticed this a couple of weeks ago but forgot about it. Time for an upgrade, I guess.
