Re: When does your boating season end?

Where do I vote for this being the most depressing thread on iboats right now? ;)

My boating season ended last year the weekend before Thanksgiving... I got tired of rewinterizing it every weekend, so I finally gave up and put it in the barn. I've been out in late March before, but most of the time its the 1st or 2nd weekend in April.

My season usually starts first of may, to get the boat ready for fishing (walleye) opener, and i run hard until october, when the lakes start to freeze.

Usually after duck season, end of December, early January. Or when it freezes so bad we can get out anymore.

It depends, but like Paultjohnson stated about the time Hunting season starts is when we have to start watching the weather, could be late september or October.

I hate you all. Ice is off the water here ~Mid April, to November, with tolerable water temps July and August....:(

Live in SW Florida. If you can take the heat, you can fish all year. As always have to use some caution in the winter with the wind. But pretty mush all year!

Usually the wind and temps bring and end to happy boating in Maine by mid/end of October.

Right Bondo? You were here awhile.

Ayuh,... My 1st 20 years...

Temps over there, run 'bout the same as here....
Over here, We just get 3 or 4 times the amount of Snow, because of the Lake Effect...
Seasons change about a week sooner here, goin' into Spring, than back Downeast...
'bout a week later, goin' into Fall...

When the pry the helm from my cold dead fingers!

So, year round :)

With our previous boat which was an I/O bowrider, we typically put it away from Oct to Mar since it was all water sports type boating. With new OB bay boat, I took it out fishing all months last year.

Re: When does your boating season end?

another great reason to have an outboard--no major winterizing, use it year round if you want. When you get those surprise days in the cold season you can just splash it and go.

My winterizing consists of removing the bimini. I put a splash of boat antifreeze in the bilge to protect the pump, etc. during hard freezes, and lower the motor.

Prime watersport season for me is May to October, but a big part of that is related to the kids school and sports activities. The weather is usually reasonable from April to November for powerboating. I kayak year round in the southern appalachians.

TO DARN SOON! usually mid October to early November depends on how warm the lake gets during the summer and how fast that horrible little 4 letter "s" word starts flying around.

When it snows we dont go out. Oh wait, it doesnt snow here. So it never ends. We boat all year round. Sometimes we have to stay in the boat when the water gets too cold though.
