Re: Where to put Trim tabs

I went with the Bennetts SLT 10x10 on my 19ft. and could not be happier. Wanted the adjustable Bennetts but the wife drives some times pulling the skiers or tube riders and does not do good with extra stuff to adjust. I love the SLT 10x10 best thing I added to the boat. Have new metal tabs welded to the trailer so you can hook the straps up at a different angle.

i have the nauticus SX ones on my 19ft Tahoe and they are awesome, either brand is great i went with the nauticus ones because i got a smoking deal on them at a local dealer that had the ones i needed in stock, i also like the look of the composite ones better

Re: Where to put Trim tabs

OK, cant decide on the SX tabs or the Bennett tabs. I like the look of the Bennett stainless steel tabs to possibly last longer, but does it make a difference from the composite on the SX tabs ?

SX tabs to purchase:
SX Smart Tabs Trim Tabs for Boat Length 18' - 20' FT and 150-240 HP - Nauticus SX9510-80BL - iboats

Bennett tabs to purchase:
Self Leveling Trim Tab System, 10" x 10" - Bennett - Bennett Marine SLT10 - iboats

cant speak to quality other than Bennett. My last two boats that were 20+ years old had them from new and I never had an issue. I just put them on my current boat and can directly speak to Bennett customer service from Tabman.

Read up on tabs on this board, and you will have a hard time finding anyone who has anything bad to say about Bennett or Nauticus. Both seem to have great products and exemplary customer support.

I bought SmartTabs SX and I'm very happy with them. Hard to find anything that gives you that much performance enhancement for so few dollars.

... I cant relocate the strap rings on the boat or on the trailer since i don't think it will help me...

You can relocate the strap tie point on the trailer by just adding another set of brackets.

And, as always, be sure to attach the straps correctly.

Same issue when I installed my tabs - I just ran mine up the side to the back cleats

Yup just put your tabs on where they should go and then you can see where to have your tabs welded on.
On my old boat I did change strap location by adding eye bolts to the trailer for the straps to hook to just drill and bolt on easy.

Re: Where to put Trim tabs

Well, little update. Finally got my boat home to install the trim tabs. I only had one option on where to put them. Hopefully they get the job done. There is no way I could have gone further out since the shape of the boat.
