    Outdrive leak

To be clear, the oil on the shaft and impeller housing happens normally when you split the upper and lower. I just split my drive today to replace carrier and impeller. I also had that amount of oil. The black carrier appears original like mine. It is hard to know where the oil is leaking...

    water in the oil

I imagine it was the lifters ticking not getting oil in the top end. Need to figure out why there is water in the oil...cracked block?

5.0 mpi stalls for a sec randomly at idle

Why? How do you know there isn't a leak and the drive is empty?

    No spark 1990 mercruiser 4.3l

I purchased a used module from ebay about 4 years ago. Still going strong at a fraction of the replacement price. I assume it is probably hit or miss with ebay though.

Oil Pressure Below Mercruiser Limits Per Manual

That clarifies the expected oil pressures on a well running motor. The engine in question is clearly low - even by the manual mins. I'd expect the issue to be with the engine/pump rather than using the wrong oil even in the Texas heat (barely hitting 90s here now).

Oil Pressure Below Mercruiser Limits Per Manual

Does this mean the manual is not accurate? I find it odd that the manual only lists oil pressure at 2 RPMs (Idle & 2K). Idle = 4 psi min, 2K = 30 psi min. That is under and over the "rule of thumb". Seems like a bad rule of thumb. Would be nice if they gave an oil pressure at WOT. I sit at...

1994 Mercruiser 454 Stalls at idle, Sputters Under Load

Yes, based on your description and assuming the engine is tuned up correctly. Rebuild the carb and if issue persists then check lines, fuel pressure, pump, filter, tank, gas.

Mercruiser 5.7 with carb and Gen 2 Alpha one overheating, smoke, taking on water

I would think the water coming into the boat occurred before making its way to the engine, which caused the overheat (lack of water). I am sure a lot of rubber ended up melting (flappers, elbows, etc.)

Mercruiser 5.7 with carb and Gen 2 Alpha one overheating, smoke, taking on water

I can understand that. Hard to know if a hose broke loose or a major issue with the bellows during all the chaos. I would have done the same. Family over a boat.

Mercruiser 5.7 with carb and Gen 2 Alpha one overheating, smoke, taking on water

Below is a link to where the serial number can be found: https://www.perfprotech.com/mercury-marine-parts-catalog/searchserial The issue is not likely with the outdrive. I suggest following all the cooling system hoses to see if something broke free or has a major split. There is no other...

Mercruiser 5.7 with carb and Gen 2 Alpha one overheating, smoke, taking on water

Why was the boat filling with water? It sounds like a hose may have gotten lose or an issue with a drain plug. Did you look around to see where the water was coming from? I don't think it is a coincidence that your bilge started to fill with water at the same time the engine was starting to...

2000 4.3 Vortec Lower end gasket set?

The GM parts also tend to be overpriced. That GM timing cover will set you back about $100 or more. There are aftermarket parts like ATP 103074 ($25). Just have to decide if you are ok with the brand and quality. Similar with gaskets (FEL-PRO OS30680R). I believe these are the same gaskets for...

2000 4.3 Vortec Lower end gasket set?

They are the same as a truck. I think I used a Chevy Blazer to order mine. I bought a new timing cover since the gasket is built in. I got the water pump gaskets when I ordered a new pump, but I would have used the truck gaskets if they were not included. I also couldn't find a timing cover...

    Boat Check list

Definitely a nightmare but worth the savings. My garage is wide enough but not long enough. Got the boat in there sideways. I do as much as I can with the truck then push the rest by hand. Putting the boat up is the hardest part of my day after being tired from sending the day in the sun.

    Boat Check list

Just figured that out. Thanks. I have steps to my house that I need to clear. I have a couple inches between O/D and concrete full up. Other side of the garage is limited by the water heater closet. Best practice when able.

    Boat Check list

It is an I/O. I only put on muffs during winterization & start of the season. May be hard on bellows but trimmed up is the only way the boat fits in the garage..... barely. They are also inspected regularly.

    Boat Check list

Yes, that is true. For better or worse, I keep the drive up during the season. In the offseason, I have a note to raise the drive taped to the jacks.

    throttle cable..?

I think you would have noticed the engine not getting up to full RPM unless it has been like that for a while. Eye's can deceive but the tach will tell the story next time you are out.
