    The End

Small aluminum tiller with an outboard? Practice casting into a Solo cup? Streams around me never really froze solid enough to venture out on. I think the St. Lawrence was open much of last year. I'd say take up snow shoeing but around here, there really wasn't much snow last season. Think I...

    Upgrade Outboard Motor

I'd find out what your current motor weighs and then compare with your options for re-power. The new motor may cause the boat to sit lower in the water, depending on the difference. I know when I went from a 120 HP Force (2 stroke) to a 115 HP Honda (4 stroke) the difference was about 180lbs...

    Soda blasting...now what?

For the outdrive, chemical. For the gelcoat, I'd use wet/dry sandpaper followed by some rubbing compound then wax....provided you don't sand through the gel down to the actual glass mat.

    Soda blasting...now what?

IF that were mine, I would have pulled the assembly off the transom first, torn it down, then soda blasted it. Anything left on it, has grit in it from the soda and whatever was blasted loose. For removing the rest, I would generally use "Aircraft Stripper" available at auto parts stores. It's...

A nice tip but it’s not about stern drive storage in the up position

One of the last years owning my Four Winns, which had a SX drive, the drive would slowly drop from full up to full down. It'd take about 2-3 weeks sitting on a trailer to do it. I spoke with a marina about it and their advice was to leave it as is as it was a very minor issue at that point in...

    Best slip on shoes?

My son is wearing slip-ons from Sketchers. Don't ask, he can tie his own shoes, just likes the slip-ons better. Wears a men's 10.5 and he's 12...yes, he can look me in the eye already.

    Black Friday trolling motor deals

My work has a discount card for one of our regional tire chains (happens to be an installer for TireRack). Between that and a $50 rebate from Pirelli, it knocked about the cost of a tire off my bill. That was last week so there may still be a rebate from Pirelli tires on a set of 4. **Took a...

    Stringer rotten

The way my live well is setup in my boat is that it has a drain in the bottom with a removable plug. It fills from an adjustable filler pipe (there's a valve to regulate the amount of flow) and there is an overflow should the tank get too full. IF yours is setup in a similar manner, I wouldn't...

    Black Friday trolling motor deals

Google would be your friend if there had been any leaks for upcoming BF deals. Highly doubtful that a big ticket item like that would be on discount. Best bet is to hope for some gift cards to help you offset the cost :)

Looking for a very unique head unit

The single din format is getting harder to find. More likely than not because only the oldies but goodies still use that format. Most are now double din or larger. Good luck in your search. You find something let me know as my Trans Am is due for an upgrade - has an older Pioneer CD/AM/FM I...

Looking for a very unique head unit

Pioneer AVH has a single din BUT the current models rely on Apple Car Play or Android for NAV. I'm finding this to be more of the norm these days. You might find an older unit used that includes the onboard NAV. Probably something about 5-10 years old.

How/where to put in a stereo in my (new to me) Triton 175 fishing boat?

That's probably not where I would look. Check other sources...Crutchfield has a marine section with a marine MB Quart package (includes 2 speakers) at about $140. There are other discount audio sources out there...Google is your friend.

    Boat Cover

My uncle's Sylvan is much like yours - bow mount trolling motor and 75HP Yammie out back. He has a custom vinyl snap on cover that he uses when docked which covers the trolling motor. The snaps attach to studs on the side of the hull. Cost a pretty penny but it works. My Chap has a bow mount...

How/where to put in a stereo in my (new to me) Triton 175 fishing boat?

No room for one of these? https://rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/pmx-3/ Not much bigger than a full sized gauge. I was looking at these a while back to replace my POS Jensen MS3A...

    1981 ss150

Umm..."sea nymph boat ss150" and go from ALL to Images. Bunch of stuff shows. But for a 4+ decade old boat, I'd consider that a blank slate and set it up as I wanted, not how the manufacturer set it up eons ago.

    Nobody fishing?

Shipping was free on this item. So umm....nope? I'll be getting another soon as I have more poles to add to the stand. My sons are already eyeing up their next upgrades... Really depends on the item as some of the O Scale trains I buy are incredibly heavy so a $20-30 shipping fee is actually in...

    Rain needed

My cousin has a cottage on the River in Clayton NY. He was telling me just this weekend his floating dock is sitting on bedrock. He had to get into the water to wrestle his Sylvan off his boat lift and he has no hope of getting it back on. So...beyond low.

    Astro 1970

Then its an Astro boat. I don't see the issue here as several boat manufacturers have come and gone. Doesn't change who manufactured the boat.

    Engine size for Wooden Boat?

I've never heard anyone say they bought too big of a motor...but I've certainly heard many lament they should have gone bigger. So if the boat will take it, I'd go for the 40HP.

What accurate humidity level in full basement stops all mold ?

Mine's my furnace. It'll dry anything out...including my 110 gallon pond I keep in the basement over winter time. Can lose 1-2" of water in a week. Which reminds me...probably time to refill it. My koi and Shubunkin will be happy when I do. I run a dehumidifier only during the summer, whatever...
