Seeking Plastic Helm Emblem: 1970 Starcraft Super Sport V

IF that were mine, I'd look at making a plaster mold out of the original. Dress any flaws in the mold, and then cast in epoxy. Paint to suit after that. But that's just me... You might locate someone who has the CAD file to 3D print a new one. That might be another option...

    Turbo tax

My wife used to when she was single. Now that we're married, have kids and bills we use my tax accountant. $90 each year and she keeps records as well in case of an audit. For me, some things are worth paying for.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

In 2000, my 115HP Honda was $11k new - got $1k trade-in on the 1yr old Force 120 2 stroke. I think that estimate is way, way off on what's hanging on the back of that conversion.

    83 Tracker rebuild

To me...and I'm no expert...that wood is shot and needs replacement. That's why that metal brace is bent 50 ways from Sunday. I'd replace that, reform the metal brace and replace the bow eye as starters. With a boat the size/weight you're working on, there wouldn't be a reason to power load in...

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

And you can't do max without a WDH. Says it right on the same page....in the same chart. Heck its all through the PDF of the owners manual...over 5k = WDH. And that's direct from the manufacturer. I tow with my Ram 1500, no issues. My towed weight is probably right around 4500lbs when fully...

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

Uh huh...did ya read the note? Says not to exceed 5k without using a WDH. More than likely due to rear suspension sag/squat.

    Suggestions rebuilding a Bowrider

I would buy a tower if that's what you're really after. As far as mounting it...it'd have to go behind the windshield...which would make getting in/out of the boat a chore through the back. Putting it on the glass or next to it seems to be asking for a cracked pane of glass. I'd really rethink...

Please help identify this old sailboat

Might have been a plan boat then, along the lines of Glen-L or Popular Mechanics. May have glassed over the wood structure. With no manufacturer or ID...you're not likely to find / locate anything about it or come across another sorry to say.

    Leaky boat

I'd be curious...what's the difference between most days and the days where you have no water in the boat? Are you fishing instead of swimming/tubing/skiing?

    Rain needed

We're still about 3' lower than we should be. And that's saying something as normally NY isn't affected...at least not to this extent. Makes me worried about spring time if we don't get some decent snow cover, which we're not. Haven't had to use the snow blower yet.

    HYDROFOIL

Didn't need one on my 5.0L V8 270HP FourWinns. Don't need one on my Chap which is roughly 1000lbs lighter and only 180HP V6. I'd be careful with generalizations and magazines that are paid to promote products. Which is why I was asking what problem the OP is attempting to solve. Be nice to...

    Minn Kota 40lb. No Power

Does the prop shaft spin freely? I ask as one year, unbeknownst to me, the shaft/bearings rusted solid in mine. Thought the battery was shot so paid an arm & leg for one in vacation land...still didn't turn. That's when I found the shaft wasn't turning. Freed it and its been fine since...

    Dads blog

Love it! My dad tells tale of one of his adventures riding in a troop transport during Vietnam and a smoke grenade... Tale goes... They were riding in a troop transport through rice paddies and someone had the idea to start pulling the pin from the smoke grenade and reinserting it. Well as...

    Leak Repair: GluVit, 3M5200, G/Flex650

You are much braver than I relying on a band-aid in 2-3' chop 2 miles offshore. IF this were my boat, I'd be tearing the floor out and re-bucking/replacing any leaky rivets. I have this thing about swimming in cold water...it ain't for me. **If you read the mfg specs, Gluvit is NOT UV stable...

    HYDROFOIL

What problem are you attempting to fix with it? I see in your other post that you have a 5.0L Baja boat. I'd wager adjustable trim tabs might be a better option then drilling holes in your cav plate.

    Refurbishing a fiberglass bass boat

I'd check the specs on the resin. From what I'm reading that resin is used in surf board construction. No where does it mention its used for boat construction/repairs. To me, that would warrant a call to the manufacturer. I'm not sure this is the way to go if you're trying to cut weight off a...

    Marinco solar vents-Junk?

Fan itself is probably replaceable. If you're able to get into the unit, the fan probably has a part number, voltage, and rpm on a sticker. Amazon/Google/Ebay for replacements. To replace it may be as simple as unplugging the old and connecting the new or it may require some soldering skills...

Are Chrysler motors junk and to be avoided?

Interesting write up and I'll have to keep that in mind while searching for the kids boat. I've seen a couple tin cans come across with Chrysler outboards hung on the back. Other than seeing them in FB Marketplace ads, they're an unknown in this area. Mostly Merc, Yammie, Honda, and...
