    Mercruiser 3.0 replaced fuel pump

There is a vent tube or hole in the carburetor air horn. Using a bottle shaped like a ketchup bottle fill the carb with fuel. No long cranks. Be careful not to overflow. Works on my 3.0 and 48 Pontiac for season wakeup.

Wow, something's not correct there. Do you have calipers?

    Alpha one lower shift cable

My MC-1 OEM was a forward threaded mount. Replacement was rear threaded mount. Some bell housings aren't tapped completely thru. Use the above stated tap and run it completely thru from the front to create threads that you can use from the rear.

    What year, model?

You will have to contact ?DNR. That s/n won't work for registration. You'll need a bill of sale and a picture of that # you posted. Then, hopefully the State will issue a new s/n. Ohio sent me a metal tag to attach to the transom.

How to Keep my Outdrive Looking Good

I noticed that my anodes never deteriorated on my I/O or OB here on Buckeye Lake, Oh. Instead the lower units were a constant problem. I installed magnesium anodes and problem solved.

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

Just something that happened to my 1979 "140". I did most you have covered. Anyway right to my point. Mine has glass fuses, discovered I had voltage at coil until I cranked it. Under load voltage at coil quit. Pulled the ignition fuse, cleaned corrosion off of the ends, replaced, all is well.

1974 850 mercury tilt cylinder leaking,

I hope you can. I have a 1975, 850 without tilt. I'm getting too old to reach back and manually tilt it 😟 is there even a chance to get entire unit?

drive shaft and gimbal bearing quendry

When it comes to bearing/shaft dimensions tolerance values are stated in thousands of an inch and sometimes ten-thousands of an inch. .000 and .0000. You really need to add at least one decimal point.

    Gimbal Bearing Compatibility and Source?

For what it's worth. Years ago (late 1980's) I had to replace the engine coupling on my 1979 Century 140 inline 4 cyl. While doing so I replaced the Bearing Cartridge (Gimbal) by tapping it sideways and pulling it out. Replaced with new by inserting into outer race and winding/tapping back in...

    1962 Mercury 500 E 50 horse no spark

Magneto type ignition, I believe. Four small bolts to remove unit in one piece. Can't get out of time, one blind spline. Clean n reset point gap to .008". Be careful with parts, expensive and hard to find.

    Storage question

Just my preference, I pull the negative cable from battery. Positive cable is more likely to arc upon reconnecting 🤷 if there is any draw.

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

From a 74 year old. I still do my own repairs. Last year I replaced lower shift cable on my IO. Let the OP go. In my opinion, he's bored and wants attention.

Achris, agreed. This is my 73 year old boat 😊 Still runs but not any mechanics to work on it.

A different "Can't attach shift shaft" question

Just a thought. Could you turn the power head upside down then lower the unit onto it 🤷

    1969 Merc 800 Idle speed

Agreed, my 1975, 850 (new to me) idled high also. Took it to marine mechanic, he said too many hands on engine. Wasn't any better after he "worked" on it. I obtained a manual, long and short of it, timing off 1 tooth on distributor pulley. The idle rpm is controlled by timing.
