    Filter screen above bilge well?

Sounds reasonable to me if you have to leave it uncovered for extended periods of time. Just make sure you have enough battery for the bilge pump depending upon how long between run times.

    Filter screen above bilge well?

I don't know if this helps but my 76 Sea Ray has a belly tank amidships so it has a lowered walk space for the galley and v berth in front of the enclosed tank space. The original design used a strainer drain in the floor area in the galley walk space that drained into a plastic pipe that ran...

New gimbal bearing, can’t get alignment tool in coupler

Mine spins easily but won't swivel in the gimbal mode. Mine is new and I tried to remove it last night with a slide hammer. It won't budge at all. I put mine in using a hydraulic press so thinking maybe I over stressed it. I don't know why it won't come back out with the slide hammer. Looks...

sonofasonofasail0r, did you get yours to align?

New gimbal bearing, can’t get alignment tool in coupler

Did you try to move only the gimbal bearing without the alignment tool? My alignment tool unscrews in the middle so I took it apart and put the end of the handle just inside the inner race of the bearing and tried to move (gimbal) the bearing (see gimbal bearings explained video above). Mine...

New gimbal bearing, can’t get alignment tool in coupler

Well, I tried the 1 inch pipe idea. It helps to get you close but the pipe I got has too much play up and down/side to side when it is in the splines to correctly move the engine. So, the pipe appears to be undersized compared to the alignment tool. However, the alignment tool measures 1.001...

New gimbal bearing, can’t get alignment tool in coupler

I am having a similar problem getting my alignment bar to slide into the splines. A while back I saw a thread somewhere that said to use a 1 inch bar which will slide into the splines on the coupler and stick out through the gimbal housing to see how the alignment is off. That is it should...

    Valve lifter reassembly SBC

Check the install instructions for your new lifters. My new Comp Cams roller lifters said they come pre-primed so not to prime them. I will probably still prime the engine even though I used assembly lube throughout and it said to not prime the lifters as described above.

    Seawater Pickup

Anybody have experience with this thru hull for the seawater pickup for the engine? I am thinking maybe I could squeeze it in between the center of the keel and the trailer roller. Also, wondering if it could go in the 6 inch space between the transom and the first row of trailer rollers?

    Exhaust Elbow Fit Problem

Thanks for all the info. It appears that the 44265C1 uses the old style shutters and the 861229-C uses the new style shutter.

    Exhaust Elbow Fit Problem

I have found two Y pipes that are listed as 807130A4. One of those has the casting number 861229-C and the other has casting number 44265C1. Will either of these work?

    Exhaust Elbow Fit Problem

Thanks, I was afraid of that. I have seen a few of the Y pipes for sale that show multiple casting numbers for them. Some have the part number 807130 with just A (instead of A4), some have a C and others claim they work as a 807130 but have cast number 861229-C. Any idea about the compatibility?

    Exhaust Elbow Fit Problem

I can't get at the Y pipe casting number since I have the engine set in place. I can pull it tomorrow, however, it appears I may have to get a new Y pipe based on your description. I think the -11086T and -14343T are oval on the outlet end.

    Exhaust Elbow Fit Problem

My Y pipe is the older 3 inch round version. The existing intermediate elbows with the Y pipe are 94443 and 94444. They are too short vertically and I don't see how they attach to the new elbows/riser even though one end is about 4 inches. I bought new dry joint HGE Exhaust Manifolds (5735)...

    Exhaust Elbow Fit Problem

Thanks, I have the rubber couplers but the one that connects to the Y pipe isn't long enough and the other one doesn't seem to fit the manifold elbow. Notice how the elbow is larger on one end. I assume that is supposed to go towards the manifold elbow but not really sure.

Am I screwed??? Alpha 1 G2 question (video)

If it is any help, my Alpha One Gen One new hinge pins are part number 77123 and they measure out at 0.812 inches in diameter on the bearing surface. I just painted my gimbal ring and haven't cleaned the overspray out of the holes so I don't have the hole dimension right now.

    Exhaust Elbow Fit Problem

What happened here (pics below)? I assume I have the wrong elbow to Y pipe. Anybody know what part I need to fix this issue?

    Seawater Pickup

Got the engine into the boat for fit check #3. Here are the pics of the engine in the bay and other items ( batteries (one simulated with a box), the trim/tilt pump and the boat leveler pump). The bilge pump goes right in front of the crank pulley on the center of the keel (not installed yet)...

    Seawater Pickup

I am going to drop the engine in today for a fit check. I will set the batteries, trim/tilt pump, and the trim tab pump in place to see where to fit them and where I can maybe put in a thru hull with seacock. Once that is done, I will pull the engine back out and lift the boat off the trailer...
