    Steering Slack and Stiff Steering

Buy yourself a grease gun! There is no way I can think of to get grease inside working parts without going thru the grease nipples.

Just bought new boat, trouble first time out. Please help.

Let the vinegar solution sit in the motor for a few hours.

    Hub repair

I liked the set screw idea. If all were equally spaced it shouldn't be off balance and if the are not too deep it might even preserve the gears in case of a strike?

    99 Monterey 276 Transom Replacement

I would like to know what he said! Maybe I'm wrong but ripping apart an entire boat instead of the back end of a boat don't seem easier to me. Could it be he's just looking for a bigger job down the road?

    99 Monterey 276 Transom Replacement

Don't mean to be a downer, but you are putting off the inevitable. A wet transom in places means a rotten transom in places. If you have the engines pulled(?) why not just bite the bullet and dig in? It ain't fun but it is doable. I would be ready to face rotten stringers as well, at least where...

Sounds like something loose vibrating to me. Agree with above, track it down and very nice looking engine!

They do look a bit like barnacles. Pick at them a bit and see if there is something inside or just corrosion.

Boat starts perfect but shuts off after 20 mins of driving

Another thought is that the tank isn't venting and creating a vacuum after running a while. Try loosening the gas cap and see if problem goes away.

Boat starts perfect but shuts off after 20 mins of driving

If the engine runs great and then suddenly dies, it sounds more like an electrical problem then an old/dirty gas problem. As said above, the tach sounds like a possibility.

Boat starts perfect but shuts off after 20 mins of driving

If those loose wires are live then either find out where they go or at least tape them up and secure them so they are not moving around and occasionally touching ground and shorting something out.

Replacing old 2 stroke with newer 4 stroke advice?

Well I'm certainly not in the rich group, and you are right, I haven't had to pay to have anything serviced yet.

Replacing old 2 stroke with newer 4 stroke advice?

4 stroke engines in general are not new tech, they have been around forever. I recently sold a 4 stroke quad that was 20 yrs old, ran like a charm. All the added computer tech is on all new engines 2 or 4 stroke. Its sometimes hard to let go of the past and what you are used to but sometimes...

OK, didn't know that. Learned something new.

Just bought new boat, trouble first time out. Please help.

Before you use a gas oil mix you have to make sure the oil injection is disabled, otherwise you will get too much oil. That wouldn't really hurt the engine but would create a lot of smoke and foul up the spark plugs. Did you continue to run the motor with the alarm going? As stated, a new...

    2017 19' Chaparral H2O leans right

If you had some place to weigh it empty and subtract the trailer weight, and gas, you would know if its over the spec weight (2540 lbs) and get an idea if there is a water intrusion problem going on. Any holes in the floor or in a fish tank or something similar possibly letting water get below...

We'll just have new moving stars! If anyone out there is still navigating by the stars that might create some problems though......
