    99 Johnson 50hp 2cyl? Any good?

info.: https://forums.iboats.com/threads/2-cylinder-vs-3-cylinder-outboard-of-the-same-horse-power-which-is-better.606678/ not sure what is meant by "ok" compression. Look at the three cylinder to see if the tell tale elbow is located (relocated) to the top of the powerhead -- important to at...

    1975 Johnson 115 starter motor

Might try ARCO in Florida for some comparison shopping. Determine what parts are needed -- ARCO is a rebuilder, but probably would ship needed parts so you could do the rebuild, saving shipping costs.

    99 Johnson 50hp 2cyl? Any good?

Take a compression tester and open air spark tester when shopping around (can use both using a pull starter if the electric starter is not working.) If the compression is even at perhaps 110-120, the motor can probably be brought back to life.

1995(estimate)30 hp Evinrude not exceeding 10mph

could also be a fuel issue, or the wrong shaft length for the hull. Was the motor recently installed?

    1966 Evinrude 18hp

Are you talking about a "whale tail" that attaches to the anti-cavitation plate? Maybe a picture would help.

    Minimum compression on 9.9hp 1986.

My '82 and '84 both have compression in the 120s. Use a screw-in tester, and crank until the needle stops moving. Record finding. 50:1 mix on those.

    1971 25hp Johnson running rich

JC8 plug is too hot -- should be tuned to run well with JC4s, with JC6 as alternative. Sounds like idle air mix is too rich -- may need leaner setting after thorough cleaning of idle passage on top of carb, under expansion cap. Make sure the orifice is clear (no broken tip of another needle...

E90TLESB - Son-In-Law's boat. Runs good but has to squirt Premix!

QL77JC4 would be the recommended plug. Gap at .030. Get an open air spark tester to check ignition (auto parts store). Use a fully charged battery, or jump directly to the starter from your vehicle to test.

Need advise on Manual Tilt Assist Shock Absorber installation for 1970 85 HP Johnson

Lift the engine off the transom with the hoist, attaching to the powerhead (flywheel lift bracket or factory bracket behind the flywheel). Secure it taking weight off the transom bracket. I believe the bottom bracket for the manual tilt shock absorber can be removed if there is no weight...

Need advise on Manual Tilt Assist Shock Absorber installation for 1970 85 HP Johnson

Maybe this set of manuals for your '79: https://www.ebay.com/itm/383757343755?hash=item5959b85c0b:g:JOkAAOSwPUNff6-f (Think you will likely need an engine hoist.)

1989 Johnson VRO - Solid Alarm - Overload?

You might want to make the change described in the service bulletin: https://forums.iboats.com/attachments/2276r1-jpg.120031/ Leave the battery switch set to "both" and the charge will be directed to both banks (lowest charged battery first). Your depth finder may be directly hooked to the...

Moot point, as you will be refilling with clean oil anyway, and maybe doing pressure and vacuum tests as a precaution.

    RKL-24 no power

The high speed jet is on the bottom front of the carb bowl under the screw. It needs to be squeaky clean (piece of sturdy monofilament and carb spray can be sufficient.) Additionally, the nozzle holes have to be open, and the gasket has to be in place at the bottom of the nozzle. Use the...

    Johnson 90hp Beeping sound

Suspect either fuel restriction or overheating. If the top of the heads are too hot to touch, it's overheating. Is it overdue for water pump service? Try running with a portable tank mixed at 50:1 ratio (about 2 1/2 oz oil per gal of gas.) Plug the VRO oil line at the engine and disconnect...
