Mercruiser 3.0 TKI engine crank half time - never starts

No. Do not use that device in the Amazon link. The point is to not use any type of clamp-on connector. Bolt your connections by using ONLY the threaded studs on your battery. Abandon those fat non-threaded battery posts, especially now that you mention one of them has become "fragile".

Boat shut off and can’t get it started

That's how mine is. Just wondering if all of them were like that.

Bayliner Bowrider 175 (2004), no power to anything other than Trim

See if she can physically follow that wire covered with the plastic loom.

Boat shut off and can’t get it started

I thought maybe it was the lanyard safety switch, but mine will still crank when the switch is tripped, it just wont start. Mine is a 4.3 Mercruiser. Maybe others are different? It sounded like it was a sudden thing. Like something disconnected abruptly. Could you have hit the lanyard switch...

Mercruiser 3.0 TKI engine crank half time - never starts

Do that. Disconnect every connection you can find, one at a time and clean everything to shiny metal. Smearing dielectric grease on and in all connections is a good idea. I use a product called Kopper Shield. I smear it on all parts and bolt it up tight. Some folks clean and tighten their...

Had spindal changed now water coming in back of boat

Waiting patiently. Hope you get some good pictures. As stated, with a gusher like that, it should be easy to locate.

Bayliner Bowrider 175 (2004), no power to anything other than Trim

It does seem strange that there are two, maybe even three large cables on the negative, yet only one large cable on the positive. Can you get her to use the multimeter to check that there is power on both sides of that 50 amp breaker button on the engine? If there's power on both sides, then...

    Boat accident at dusk

Bummer. Scary stuff. Glad you're ok and hope the others are as well. I just can't understand how someone can run on plane at dusk like that. I guess they don't care about their own safety or the safety of others. So much can go wrong so quickly.

    Gimbal bearing.

Ah! Yeah, I didn't realize it was a bravo 3. My bad! Sorry if I confused things.

    Gimbal bearing.

Do you mean on the engine side of the transom or outside, back by the outdrive?

    Gimbal bearing.

You're talking about the large water hose, not the small drive lube hose, right?

    Gimbal bearing.

Not sure what you mean. Are you asking how to remove the old hose or are you questioning the route of the hose?

    Trailer lights troubleshooting help

I would buy an LED kit that includes all new wires. If your existing wires are running through the frame, use the old wires as a drag to pull in the new ones. Loop and twist or braid the stripped end of the new wires to the stripped end of the old ones. Secure with electrical tape. Keep it as...

Over heating 4.3, 1995 non vortec

Dumb question.... Was the impeller changed in the outdrive? Sometimes a past overheat can cause an exhaust shutter (flapper) to fall down into the wye pipe and cause a blockage. I found one all the way down in my outdrive when replacing the impeller. Also, if an impeller got destroyed in...

    Gimbal bearing.

Been there done that! When I did my first bellows job I didn't know the transom bulkhead fitting was made of plastic. How insane is that? Well, I wiggled the hose and the plastic barb snapped right off. It snapped very easily. I didn't put much pressure on it. I had a devil of a time...

5.7L 1984, Rough idle at start up, then ok after a minute or so

Did you change the spark plug wires? Seems to be an inexpensive way to take that out of the equation. They probably need changing anyway. That ignition module @achris was talking about. Mine died and I couldn't believe the original was an unsealed exposed circuit board! It was totally...

Epoxy for "over drill and fill" for exterior screws

This is a moot point for you, but may help others with a clean virgin transom with no holes: My transom had zero holes in it when I bought my used boat. I didn't want to make any holes so I installed what was called a stern saver. It's basically a block of Starboad that gets glued to the...
