Mercruiser 3.0 135hp. Crank and rods

I'd be running the stock piston type. Not sure why anyone would put a higher compression piston in an industrial motor.

Alpha one Gen 2 Impeller Direction

I've always been told they'll flip themselves the correct direction once they get into higher RPMs. Obviously that isn't always the case.

    Water Leaking from engine MercCruiser

I guess you figure wrong.... I can only guess.

    Single point drain tech tip

My old boat never had single point. I'm really gratified to see a solid stream out of block drains done the old reliable way. I'm blessed with great access, at least compared to many setups, especially side by side down in the hole twin cruisers. I'd have full heat exchange systems in any boat...

Alpha 1 Gen2 - Gimbal ring tabs cut off

Only reason I can think of that one might do that is to fit a Gen2 drive on an Earlier Alpha1 gimbal housing. The Gen2 drive is wider there than the Alpha 1. So whacking off the guides would allow it to bolt up.

    Intermittent oil pressure readings

After verifying with a mechanical gauge, start cleaning connections. Pay particular attention to grounds at the engine. Since both gauges are erratic, the problem is most likely at the other end, the motor. Stainless toothbrush time. Crawling around and inserting yourself into places not meant...

1997 Maxum 5.7L Mercruiser need carburator

A motor that filled up the cylinders with water from the intake side will have rusted a few things as well. Rings and cylinder walls get rusted pretty fast, and they will cause both wear streaks and pitting will be left behind on the walls. At times if the rust is bad on the rings they will...

Overhauling my 1988 MerCruiser 4.3 ltr. engine

Back then, it was only a little over $20k biotch. Great motor other than the tendency to bust cranks from over torquing. The 4.3L V6 isn't known for that particular problem. Rivergator has an unusual cause of death here.

Overhauling my 1988 MerCruiser 4.3 ltr. engine

Amazing picture. Last crank I broke was a Cummins VT903 V8 crank. Balancer went bad and the crank broke off between it and the front bearing journal. No torque load there at all, just vibration.

    External Oil Filter hose routing?

Whatever is simplest long term. It won't matter mechanically where the hoses are. Make it easiest to maintain and access everything else.

Alpha 1 Gen 2 Impeller install

Slide it down tight. It'll be fine... it'll even come up a bit on its own as there is a bit of leakage from the pump. All that top ring does is keep the water and exhaust mixture that is flowing rapidly by from eroding the shaft opening on the top of the pump housing.

Mercruiser 5.7 Thunderbolt 5 Hard to Start

Appears you have a spread bore intake... probably means a Quadrajet carburetor. Dump the Seloc. If you want to purchase a hard manual I found them here.

Mercruiser 5.7 Thunderbolt 5 Hard to Start

Not to change your direction of thought here, but this sounds like the carb rebuild needs doing again. You said you're flooding. You have spark. TV is very trouble free, or it doesn't work at all. I would suggest you open the service manual for your motor, if you don't have it, use the free...
