    Transom assembly rebuild

Just finished the steering / swivel pin on my B3 transom assy. Was not as difficult as anticipated, just a little time consuming, taking it nice and slow. Coming apart was far more difficult / time consuming than re-assy. From what I understand (don't quote me) the Alpha Gen2 and bravo's use...

    Bow Stopp Guidance

Most obvious, it would appear the trailer is too short for that john boat. 5 - 10% of the weight should rest on the trailer connector / trailer hitch. If the boat is set on the trailer so it all fits, your tongue weight will be too light and will cause a dangerous towing situation. I guess you...

    Bravo 3 Measurement Request

Just went out to garage and measured it. That length measurement is 17" (plus or minus where you measure, since it tapers a bit). Circumference is 34

    Alternator wiring issues

Should be on the power feed end, to protect the wiring, in the event of chaffed insulation developing a short to ground. Much like house circuit breakers protect the wiring after it leaves the breaker box.

    Trim position sensor

Just a guess here. May have been installed on side of drive out of phase. Since the trim sender has a square nub on it, it could have been rotated by mistake and can be placed out of phase into the hinge pin. Put drive all the way down. Disconnect the trim sender from side of drive. Rotate the...

    Merc trim pump

My 1st question would be, "where did the water come from?". Flushing will be a PITA evolution. Empty, refill, cycle up and down a few time, then repeat till all water is gone. Or, disconnect the hydraulic lines from the rams, install some tubing to redirect the ram oil and lift and lower the...

    New prop

LOL... Look up the Big Block Mercruiser powered toon on you tune. Dang thing skips along at around 60 mph. But I would never ride in that thing. Stability does not seem to be it's strong point.

    Sharrow prop

Wouldn't say people "hate it". I think "skeptical" is a better word. The cost of ownership and "claimed" (but debunked) performance aspects are what make folks shy away. And when the subject company makes obviously tilted comparisons, the company's credibility takes a huge hit. They can thank...

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

MY bad, should have been more specific on the cav plate. Mine has 2 round ones on the underside over the prop area, and the one forward on top. Yeah, tried that prop nut zinc and it did not fit well. Took it back off, as I didn't want it to be wobbling around.

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

Sounds like all is in order. Give it a little time and see if they degrade. My boat is trailer boat also, but have the Mercathode on it. Can't hurt to have a little extra insurance, especially as costly as the B3 is. One caviat, does you cav plate have 1 or 2 zincs on it. Mine has 2 since PO...

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

2 questions: 1. what kind of water you boating in. Salt, brackish or fresh 2. What material are the zincs. Zinc, aluminum, magnesium or a combination? Zincs need to matched to the type of water it is normally in. Suggest having the Mercathode installed, as the B3's are brutal when it comes to...

    Starting issue

Is the engine carb'd or FI? 1st order would be to find out what is holding carb / FI at WOT........... Disconnect the linkage from the carb and see it closes the butterflies. Maybe the throttle cable is kaput. Fix that and you should be good to go

Inherited a custom made wooden replica 1950's runabout WITHOUT an engine

Sweet looking boat. If mine, I would keep it and power it up. Using vintage power plant would be awesome, but modern F/I engine may be a good "upgrade" mixing old with new. Even repair the de-lamination on transom Doubt you'll ever sell for same / more than invested, but will have a ton of fun...

    Non-Skid Gelcoat Wearing Off?

You can go to the sites that supply refinishing supplies for bath tubs and such and they have a non-skid additive for the paints. Used in in the whirlpool tub and shower and was easy to apply and has lasted years.

Hose popped off - Alpha 1 Gen 2

FWIW: The Mercruisers did away with the attached exhaust bellows on the Bravos. They have a "cone" seated on the transom plate and not connected to the drive. The drive fits inside when all the way down. They are louder than the bellows when up on plane, but I find the exhaust note from the Big...
